On Monday, at CTIA, Symbian will announce version 9.5 of its operating system. The new version delivers improved performance including lower memory and processor requirements, more multimedia features including support for advanced camera features, better PC connectivity, support for DVB-H and ISDB-T Mobile TV standards and improved network and connection management features. Symbian 9.5 is fully backwardly compatible with all member of the Symbian 9.x family.

 

Symbian OS v9.5, backward compatible with all versions of the v9 family, includes the following key enhancements:

 

 

Higher performance for lower hardware cost

 

Symbian OS v9.5 delivers performance improvements with reductions in requirements on memory, processor and battery, enabling smartphones based on Symbian OS v9.5 to run on the same hardware as feature phones.

Symbian is continuing to improve time-to-market for handset vendors, system integrators and developers. Symbian OS v9.5 introduces new hardware adaptation interfaces for digital TV and location based services (LBS) making it cheaper and easier to bring popular services to the mass market.

Enterprise

New Symbian smartphones will enable users to be more productive and save costs with Wifi-3G connection roaming. In addition, real-time networking ensures that VoIP is not interrupted when other IP-based services, such as web browsing or push email, make a connection.

Έλα ντε. Digital ΤV έχει το Nokia N92 που έχει symbian 9.2. Κατά τα άλλα σιγά τα λάχανα. Μειώνεται λίγο η κατανάλωση και οι απαιτήσεις και κάτι έγινε. Voip over wifi υπάρχει μέσω εφαρμογής αν δεν κάνω λάθος.

Μα καλά, ακόμα δεν ήρθαν καλά καλά συσκευές με OS9.2.

Πριν λίγο καιρό ανακοίνωσε το OS9.3 και ακόμα δεν ξέρουμε πιθανές συσκευές με αυτό το λειτουργικό.

Μήπως τελικά πρέπει να θεωρούμε ότι δε θα δούμε καθόλου το OS9.3 και θα πάμε κατευθείαν στο OS9.5???? :confused:

Tα κινητα που θα εχουν το Symbian OS 9.5 θα περνουν αλλα προγραμματα η σαν τα δικα μας? :O

Symbian 9.5 σημαίνει feature pack 4. Έχει ήδη ανακοινωθεί το feature pack 2 το οποίο περιλαμβάνει πολλές (παρά πολλές θα έλεγα) νέες λειτουργίες. Αυτό σημαίνει ότι δεν θα υπάρξει καθόλου feature pack 3 και θα περάσουμε απευθείας στο feature pack 4;

Λίγες ώρες μείναν ακόμα.

Key memory optimization features including demand paging and automatic RAM de-fragmentation can reduce average RAM usage in excess of 25 per cent, allowing for more concurrent applications for an even better user experience or enabling licensees to include less memory and reduce phone build cost.

These features and more deliver substantial benefits in the areas of performance and power usage: faster device start-up time, faster start-up time of popular applications such as browser, email and navigation by up to 75%, and improvements on the already highly competitive battery life of Symbian smartphones.

lists on Nokia.com we know there is another S60 device on the way. The 6120 runs S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 (Symbian 9.2), is a 3G device (including HSDPA) and has a QVGA screen. The device is referred to as the 6120c indicating its full name will be the Nokia 6120 Classic.
