A1 completes the project for uninterrupted 5G and roaming services along the corridor between Bulgaria and Greece
The first deployment of uninterrupted 5G and roaming services in Europe on the Bulgarian-Greek border was successfully completed in partnership between A1, COSMOTE and WINGS. The 5G SEAGUL project, co-financed by the European Union, provides reliable connectivity without interruption and lays the foundation for safer and more reliable transport, smarter mobility and more efficient logistics in the region, A1 announced. The services are possible both over 5G NSA and over A1’s 5G SA network, which is the first of its kind in Bulgaria.
Reliable and uninterrupted connectivity along the 5G SEAGUL corridor, which connects Greece and Bulgaria, contributes to safer transport and logistics, increases operational efficiency for businesses, and directly improves the user experience for citizens traveling in Europe.
The project supports rural development, improves regional connectivity and creates new opportunities for businesses and local communities along the corridor. The area around the Kulata-Promahon border crossing now has seamless roaming, allowing users and connected vehicles to cross the border without interruption of mobile services.
5G SEAGUL is funded by the European Union under the Connecting Europe Facility – Digital (CEF Digital) program and is implemented with the support of HaDEA (Grant Agreement No. 101094584)
