We know BMW has been putting quite an attempt to revive its renowned “bubble car” Isetta, probably either under the same

badge Isetta or the classic British badge Triumph. We also know that BMW announced last September that there would be a

separate fourth brand under the Munich-based manufacturer. Earlier reports said that BMW was indeed developing a

low-emissions vehicle under this fourth brand rivaling the upcoming Audi A1 or possibly the VW Up, with several

different models to be positioned just below the Mini.

 

Just yesterday Motor Authority reported of BMW not looking into having advanced technologies such as hybrid for this

mini car, but instead was opting for small yet high-performing turbo petrol and diesel engines, mainly for economy

and environmental reasons.

 

On the other hand, word comes today that BMW is seeking alternative fuel or power systems, which they think would be more

appropriate for a car designed for town use. An EV or electric vehicle as we know it is rumoured to be in development,

to fill in the 15 to 20 year gap before hydrogen fuel or fuel cell road cars becomes reality. Yet again, emissions

regulations are causing profound impacts on automakers these days, and BMW is finally answering the call

with a more practical solution; an electric city car.

When you think of luxury executive saloons, one car always comes to mind – the BMW 5-series. A class leader since its inception, the 5-series remains a crucial car in BMW’s lineup so there’s a great deal of importance surrounding the next-generation model. That car is due to arrive by late 2009 for the 2010 model year and heavily disguised prototypes have already been seen testing around the streets of Munich. These latest renderings allow us to peer under the heavy camo gear, giving us a clear indication as to what to expect for the new executive saloon.

 

 

Most of the planned changes are skin-deep. Under the new sheet metal, BMW will continue with its new found love of turbocharging. The new 4.4L twin-turbo V8 from the recently revealed X6 is expected to appear in a range topping model, while more turbo-diesel variants are expected to join the lineup as well. BMW is currently developing its second generation common rail system for its diesel powerplants, which operate at greater pressure for improved performance. The transmission systems will include a six-speed manual and a six-speed Steptronic semi-auto gearbox, however a new eight-speed unit from ZF is also expected to be available. Coming in towards the end of 2010 will be the next-generation M5 sporting a larger displacement 5.5L V10 and possibly forced induction for extra power.

 

Performance will also be improved thanks to the extensive use of lightweight materials including carbon-fiber and aluminum. The car’s construction will be a hybrid of an aluminum spaceframe for the front section, and a traditional steel monocoque for the passenger compartment and rear. This will ensure a favorable front-to-rear weight distribution and improved handling. Up front will be an independent suspension with MacPherson struts, with a multi-link layout for the rear. High-performance models will include carbon-fiber body panels to shed even more weight.

 

Inside, the car will have a more spacious interior, especially for rear-seat passengers, while the center console will be oriented more towards the driver and run an updated version of iDrive. Headroom will be similar to the current model, despite a shorter roof for the new car, while trunk volume will grow to 550L. Wheel sizes will range from 17, 18 and 19in, and a new electrohydraulic brake system will also be added, which will improve braking distances and stability.

εμενα αυτη η μικρη μπεμπα μου θυμιζει το metrosport quattro (αυτο το concept της audi για το Α1)

ωραιο το Opel Insignia,για opel μου αρεσε πολυ.

η delta πρεπει να ειναι all the money,ωστοσο το ταμπλο της δεν παιζεται πραγματικα.

Δεν μου εμφανίζονται οι φωτογραφίες της 5-Series, αλλά από μία γρήγορη αναζήτηση στο Γούγλη, βρήκα ορισμένες.

 

Φαίνεται πιο επιθετική από την υπάρχουσα έκδοση (πιο αεροδυναμική; ) και γενικά μου αρέσει περισσότερο.

 

Πάντως τα φωτιστικά της σώματα μπροστά είναι σχεδόν ίδια με της 3-Series...

ναι η φωτος οντως δε παιζουν...αυτο συμβαινει αμα τρομπαρουν on και imageshack ταυτοχρονως...:wacko:

παντως για να ειμαι ειλικρινεις δε μου πολυ αρεσουν τα family looks που εχουν υιοθετησει οι περισσοτερες εταιριες στο εμπρος μερος..τα προτιμω διαφορετικα...;)

We received this photo, believed to be of the production version of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe Concept, from an anonymous source recently.

While we can not 100% verify its authenticity, reps for Hyundai refused to deny that it is an accurate representation.

 

Believed to be called the Hyundai i35 Coupe, the toned down version of the Sonic Orange colored concept car should descend upon dealerships during spring 2009.

The car will get a 3.8 liter V6 engine rated at over 300 horsepower, with 250 ft-lb of torque, and attached to a six-speed manual transmission. 0-60 mph times

could be less than six seconds. We previously reported that the 2+2 rear-wheel-drive coupe is separate to the front-wheel-drive Tiburon replacement.

 

Despite having toned-down headlights, no heat extractors on the hood, and no hot girl standing next to the car, the prospective Hyundai i35 Coupe still looks good.

We would have liked to have seen the production version maintain the concept's more chiseled side and front styling, but (assuming this is a real photo) this was

likely not a realistic option for engineers. One thing that does give us pause is that Hyundai originally said a factory model of the Genesis Coupe Concept would

have three slats at the front to assist engine cooling. Remnants of this can be seen at the fog lights, but not in the oversized grille.

 

We like the five-spoke alloys on the car in this photo, similar to those on the concept, but we are unsure of the wheel size. With deliveries of this car originally

planned for early next year, production of an alleged Hyundai i35 Coupe would begin this year. And that means this photo may be the real deal.

Concept Car iQ at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, iQ will go into production during late 2008.

 

iQ represents a break-through in compact urban transportation. For a first, up to three passengers can be comfortably seated in a compact

urban vehicle at sub three metres in length, and additionally have enough area to accommodate a child or luggage.

 

The spaciousness of iQ is a result of its ingenious packaging, which was created by six space-saving but inter-linked engineering innovations

that represent a revolution in Toyota’s automotive vehicle development.

 

Infused with Japanese design elements, iQ is a radical change in vehicle design as well as environmentally friendly transportation,

and away from the belief that small cars are basic and less safe.

αν στο μελλον τοποθετηθει καποιο μικροτερο μοτερ(πχ2,0λτ τουρμπο)μονο τοτε θα ερθει..στην ευρωπη ειναι ανωφελο να φερουν ενα χιουνται 3,8 λιτρων,οσο φτηνο και να ειναι...;)

Ναι, έχεις ένα δίκαιο...

Το coupe θα βγει και με δίλιτρο turbo.

Πάντως έχει μεγαλώσει αρκετά.

παιδια το Toyota iQ απεχτο ετσι!!!

 

νομιζω οτι θα παρει πολλες πωλησεις απο το smart που σιγουρα θα ειναι αρκετα ακριβοτερο (μια και ειναι της mercedes)!:happy:
