Μπορεί να αναβαθμιστεί το qtek 2020 με αυτή την έκδοση?

Στην MDC ήδη η hp αναβάθμιζε τα 2210 και 4150. Λογικά θα κυκλοφορήσει αναβάθμιση για διάφορες συσκευές.

 

Βέβαια αν τελικά θα υπάρξει ROM upgrade εξαρτάται από τον κατασκευαστή και όχι από τη Microsoft.

Προς τον Alexkass : Άσχετα που επίσημα δεν έχει κυκλοφορήσει τίποτα πιστεύω ότι η FSC Θα είναι από τις πρώτες εταιρείες που θα προσφέρουν rom upgrade με το καινούριο λειτουργικό

1. γύρισα από ξενύχτι στο fever και είμαι λιώμα... :p

5 το προωί ήμουν σπίτι και έχω τόσα πμ και μέιλ να απαντήσω. ζητώ κατανόηση για το αν κάμω εκφραστικά λάθη και άλλα.

 

2. αλλαξές στο ui: η σημαία γίνεται επιτέλους 3d και όπως στα σπιτικό λειτουργικό 2003 server. ακόμα αλλάζει το πληκτρολόγιο.

 

3. αλλαγές σε ονόματα, προς το παρόν το indox γίνεται messaging.

 

4. έχουμε άμεση, χωρίς επανεκίνηση, rotation της οθόνης και ταυτόχρονη αλλαγή μεγέθους γραμματοσειράς.

 

5. έχουμε αλλαγή σε πολλά σημεία του πυρήνα (4.21)

 

6. @kplr: αυτό είναι σίγουρο και ίσως το δώσει δωρεάν :)

 

7. η αναβάθμιση δεν θα ξεπερνάει τα 31ΜΒ

Customers are seeing cost reductions and increased productivity benefits with this combination of tools. Landmark Graphics Corp., for one, has cut its development costs by 40 percent to 50 percent using Microsoft .NET technology. Continuing to Foster the Ecosystem

 

Microsoft΄s Mobile2Market program is designed to help commercial developers connect with multiple distribution channels including retailers, e-tailers, original equipment manufacturers and mobile operators. To date, 40 distributors including 22 mobile operators have requested and received access to Microsoft΄s catalog of applications for Windows Mobile-based devices.

 

Building on the current success of the Mobile2Market program, Microsoft announced the $100,000 Mobile2Market application contest. NOTE: I SPOKE TOO SOON...something just noticed by both Shawna Kelly (Co-Manager of my user group, MS-MVP, GPS Goddess of Pocket PC Magazine)...on the 2210 ROM the BT Manager was left out!!! But not on the 4100 series users. AARGH - I want my BT!

Microsoft unveil Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition

New platform for Pocket PCs appears, offering VGA support, screen rotation and other surprises; Motorola first up with MPx featuring new OS

 

 

Microsoft have made a number of announcements today at DevCon, the most important of which is the unveiling of their Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition, which is expected to appear first in the Motorola MPx, reported at CeBIT and due for availability around July 2004.

 

The new operating system adds a range of new functionality, the majority of which centre around the display. Specifically, Windows Mobile will now support square screens and VGA-resolution screens in addition to the standard QVGA used by almost all previous Pocket PCs, with the exception of the Toshiba E800. This new functionality is supplemented by OS-level support for portrait and landscape orientations, switched dynamically. Of course, existing applications should work fine.

 

Other additions include an improved Start Menu, which will remember recently-used applications, more control over font sizes, improved screen wrapping in Internet Explorer, WPA support for Wi-Fi and improvements for the Phone Edition variant, including voice tags.

 

The update will affect both Pocket PCs and Smartphones. Further improvements include the ability of Pocket PCs to dial from the Today Screen, while Smartphones will gain QVGA resolution support, a native MMS client and customization of the Home Screen soft keys. Improvements to both platforms follow in the areas of voice dialling, speed dialling and ring tone support, along with easier customization of the devices by mobile operators.

 

Further details were unavailable at the time of writing, and it is unknown which manufacturers are to release upgrades to the new OS. It is expected that Toshiba's E800 will be the first to get the upgrade, as its VGA screen will see the most immediate benefit.

 

However, the first device expected to ship with the OS pre-installed is Motorola's MPx, a tri-band GSM/GPRS handheld boasting built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth wireless technology, and infrared support, with a 2.8 inch, 16-bit color display running at QVGA resolution. The handheld can run both Java and existing Windows Mobile software, according to Motorola.

 

The Motorola MPx boasts up to 1GB of expandable memory, an integrated 1.2 megapixel camera with flash, and Java technology. Excitingly, the MPx is equipped with a dual-hinge mechanism, allowing it to open in both portrait and landscaspe modes, with a touchscreen and full QWERTY keyboard available for input.

Δεν είναι κανένας από την Ελλάδα στο MDC οπότε δεν ανησυχούμε για του φίλους.

 

Προφανώς το upgrade που έκαναν στο conference θα έχει και άλλα προβλήματα που θα τα βρουν στην συνέχεια. Λες να ήταν τέλειο;

Το upgrade πιθανότατα θα είναι καθολικό, δηλ. δεν θα περιορίζεται μόνο στα VGA-enabled PPCs.

Μάνο γνωρίζεις για διαφορές πέρα από αυτές που βλέπουμε? πιο σταθερά? τι θα υποστηρίζουν παραπάνω? που είναι καλύτερα από τα προηγούμενα και που χειρότερα? πώς είναι το keyboard σε landscape mode?

Naturally, there is no way an operating system upgrade can make current 240-by-320-pixel screens into 480-by-640-pixel ones. However, there is one Pocket PC that already has a VGA screen, the Toshiba e805. The French web site PocketPCParadise was told by Toshiba to expect a free Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition upgrade for this model in May.
