Custom roms project for Mio P350/P550/A501/A702/A701

Dear forum members,

 

 

This is the new Super Structured and fast Rom for Mio P550/P350:

 

WWE WM6.5 CE OS 5.2.28205 Build 28205.5.3.3, compressed in LZX algorithm.

 

Page Pool is 5MB and the rom is UC ready.

 

- Additional applications can be installed from VistalibWWE28205MVSD6_50 cab folder.

 

- CHomeWeather / Titanium today plugin has been integrated in rom with New York settings.

 

- Power service management is also provided in rom.

 

- Backlight must be used for setting the brightness and Backlight.exe for setting the turn off delay time of 10 sec or more.

 

- More graphics are added to Today Screen.

 

- The XIP allows for 28205 builds and LZX compression.

 

- The CE image is based on an almost official WM6.5 CE OS 5.2.28205 ( Build 28205.5.3.3 ).

C. Instructions to successfully flash the rom CE image

 

 

 

Here bellows are the instructions to successfully flash it.

 

Unzip the downloaded file: Mio_P550_WWE_WM6.5.28205.LZX.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_PP5_by_ansar.zip

 

and in the created directory you will have the following:

 

1. The RomUpgrade folder.

 

2. The VistaLibWWE28205MVSD6_50 folder with the optional cabs.

 

3. The CHomeWeather Location Database.txt file

 

4. The rom binary image Mio_P550_WWE_WM6.5.28205.LZX.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_PP5_by_ansar.nb0 file

 

5. This Readme.txt file and

 

6. The SDConfig.txt file

 

Before flashing make a backup of your files in Storage Card using your favorite backup application.

 

Use the same backup application you used to save your data in order to recover them after flashing.

 

Place the VistaLibWWE28005MVSD6_50 dir and the SDConfig.txt file in the Storage Card and

 

flash the Mio_P550_WWE_WM6.5.28205.LZX.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_PP5_by_ansar.nb0 image file as follows:

 

1. Install the required usb driver found in the USB driver folder

 

2. Enter Mio P550 in boot loader menu as follows:

 

2.1 In case the device is at power off state:

 

.... Press and hold the joystick DOWN and then Power on the device.

 

2.2 In case the device is at power on state:

 

.... Press and hold the joystick DOWN and then press the reset button.

 

3. In both 2.1 and 2.2 when see the blue color screen, release joystick. You are at Oscar250/260AB_UT_R12 menu.

 

4. Connect the device with your PC/Laptop using a USB cable.

 

5. Press joystick to select 0=Image Upgrade Tools menu.

 

6. Then press joystick to select 0=Image by USB.

 

7. Wait to see the messages Download & Run, Waiting for download..., USB Cable connected.

 

8. From RomUpgrade folder run dnw5.0e.exe

 

9. Verify that [uSB:OK] is displayed in the DNW v0.50E popup window title bar.

 

10. From USB port menu select Transmit

 

11. Select Mio_P550_WWE_WM6.5.28205.LZX.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_PP5_by_ansar.nb0 file and click on open.

 

12. The downloading and flashing process will start and will finish at the same menu: Image Upgrade Tools

 

13. Close DNW v0.50E popup window.

 

14. With the joystick select 2=Exit to return in the Uboot menu.

 

15. Hard reset your device by holding UP the joystick and then pressing the reset button.

 

16. Wait to see the splash screen and then release the joystick.

 

The rom upgrade process will perform as follows:

 

a. Loads all splash screens, performs the welcome screen and displays the initial Today screen.

 

b. Then loads Mobile_Vista theme and installs the cabs that reside in the rom.

 

c. Executes the reset instruction of SDConfig.txt and

 

d. Will finish after machine's final Reset and final boot.

Dear forum members,

 

 

These instructions are for upgrading your Mio P560 ROM.

 

- The provided ROM image is the official WWE WM 6.0 OS 5.2.17945 Build 17945.0.3.2 version.

 

- Keep this ROM image in order to flash it when sending the device for service.

 

- In case of different than English ROM (not a WWE), before flashing make a dump of your original ROM.

 

- For more details on ROM dumping see this link: http://www.a701.org/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=465

 

- Before flashing make a backup of your files, i.e. conect to a PC with activesync and backup.

 

- If cannot activesync install the provided drivers.

 

Unzip the downloaded Mio_P560_WWE_WM_6_0_OS_5_2_17945_B_17945_0_3_2_by_ansar.zip in a folder and you will have:

 

- The USB drivers folder.

 

- The dnw.ini file.

 

- The

dnw5.0e.exe program.

 

- This Mio_P560_Rom_Upgrade_Guide.txt file.

 

- The Mio_P560_WWE_WM_6_0_OS_5_2_17945_B_17945_0_3_2_by_ansar.bin ROM file.

C. Instructions to successfully flash the rom image

 

 

 

1. Make sure that P560 can be connected and synchronized with your PC / Laptop.

 

2. Turn off the device by sliding the bottom power switch to OFF.

 

Press and Hold down the power switch on top and slide the bottom power switch to ON.

 

3. Form the Uboot Menu select 0=WINCE Upgrade and press joystick.

 

4. From WINCE Upgrade menu select 3=WINCE by USB and press joystick.

 

5. From your PC run dnw5.0e.exe program.

 

6. Select USB port>Status and see if the USB info screen is displayed.

 

7. Select USB port>Transmit and open Mio_P560_WWE_WM_6_0_OS_5_2_17945_B_17945_0_3_2_by_ansar.bin file.

 

8. Wait for the process to finish, disconnect and slide bottom switch to OFF.

 

9. Wait one minute and slide bottom switch to ON in order to perform a hard reset.

Update on 12 Aug 2010:

 

This is the version V2 of the new Super Structured and fast Rom for Mio A702:

 

WWE WM6.5 CE OS 5.2.28205 Build 28205.5.3.3, compressed in LZX algorithm.

 

This version reveals the Mio Recovery folder.

 

The OEM drivers of A702 for 3gp/3gpp have an inheriting bug that presumes the screen layout as fixed for WM 6.0/6.1.

 

In WM 6.5 the layout is changed and 3pp/3gpp leave the screen in WM 6.0/6.1 layout.

 

Instead of changing the drivers, i.e. with A701, a work around before leaving from WMPlayer

 

after a 3gp/3gpp session is to play a proper WMPlayer file as *.wmv or *.aac or *.asf etc.

Page Pool is 6MB and the rom is UC, D3D and optionally YouTube ready.

Remove any SDConfig.txt file from your Storage Card , copy SDConfig28205.txt or SDConfig28205UT.txt in storage card and rename it to SDConfig.txt.

 

SDConfig28205.txt includes only the reset instruction.

 

SDConfig28205UT.txt is preparing the device in order to be YouTube ready.

 

Flash the Mio_A702_WWE_WM6.5.28205.LZX.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_V2_PP6_by_ansar.bin image file as follows:

 

1. Make sure that Mio A702 can be connected and synchronized with your PC / Laptop.

 

2. Turn on the device while holding up the side joystick.

 

In case the device was on, hold up the joystick and press the Reset button.

 

In both cases you enter to USB update mode.

 

3. If you do not have already installed the USB drivers, it is time to do so.

 

USB drivers are in the download folder with this name.

 

4. After USB driver installation run ChiSync33.exe.

 

5. Tap on Image tab to browse for the downloaded file: Mio_A702_WWE_WM6.5.28205.LZX.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_V2_PP6_by_ansar.bin

 

6. By pressing Info tab you can see this file info.

 

7. Tap on Update to start rom image flashing.

 

8. You can disconnect only when the message of checksum is displayed and ChiSync33.exe is showing the stop sign.

 

9. Wait for the flash process to finish and your device to boot.

 

a. This boot is the phase-one boot and after splash screen it goes to a black screen.

 

You are waiting for phase-one boot to finish til you hear the characteristic gong sound.

 

b. Now you can enter to final boot phase by pressing the Reset button.

 

Important Notes:

 

1. This two phase boot sequence must be carried out after any future hard reset.

 

2. When YouTube is installed by VistalibWWE28205MVSD6_50\CabToWindows\YouTube.cab then:

 

VistalibWWE28205MVSD6_50\CabToWindows\StreamingMedia.cab

 

must also be installed in order to download YouTube video.

 

3. In simple windows mode, Contacts and Total Commander are assigned in the known inside touch keys.

 

4. As you already noticed all screens (initial splash, windows welcome and AutoRun) are redesigned as well as the Mobile_Vista.tsk theme

 

5. Internet explorer has two new home screens.

 

The first has help, IE Home, HTC Home and Xda Developers.

 

If you tap on IE Home the well known iexplorer home screen is seen.

 

When you tap on menu>tools>options you can set the current, IE home as home page.

 

You can always go back to the first page from menu>tools>options and setting use default.

 

6. The well known SRS WOW HD driver is in the rom as package for enhanced HD sound.

Ευχαριστώ πολύ για την άμεση απάντηση.

Μια ακόμη ερώτηση πριν προχωρήσω. Έχω την Ελληνική version την οποία θα πάρω backup με τον τρόπο που εξηγείς. Μετά την αναβάθμιση θα έχω πλέον την Αγγλική ή πρέπει να κάνω κάτι για να επαναφέρω τα Ελληνικά;

η rom του ansar για το Ρ560 έχει κάτι παραπάνω από τη rom που έχει ήδη το P560 αυτή τη στιγμή?

1. Make sure that Mio A702 can be connected and synchronized with your PC / Laptop.

 

Για το βήμα αυτό πρέπει να συνδεθεί το A702 με το PC μέσω Windows Mobile Device Center; Έχω την εντύπωση ότι το Windows Mobile Device Center είναι ασύμβατο με τα WM 6.0 που έχει η συσκευή.

 

Επίσης το ActiveSync δε μπορεί να εγκατασταθεί σε Vista...

 

Τέλος το recovery partition διαγράφεται κατά το flashing;

Το έχει εγκαταστήσει επιτυχός κανείς; Μπορεί να μου πεις πως γίνεται να βάλω τους usb drivers γιατί εκεί κολλάω.

Παίζει κάτι σε WM 6.5, ή 6.1 για Mio P350???

Πως να εγκαταστήσω τους USB drivers?

Καλησπέρα,

την πάτησα με το mio P550 μου...πηγα να εγκαταστήσω την Mio_P550_WWE_WM6.5.28205.LZX.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_PP5_by_ansar εκδοση απο την sd καρτα ομως (οχι απο usb) και μου πέταξε καποια checksum errors.Τελείωσε ομως η διαδικασια και μου ζητησε να κανω reset τη συσκευη...εκτοτε δεν ανοιγει..μονο τα led αναβουν και δεν κανει τιποτα.

Υπαρχει καμμια λύση;παιζει να μου το φτιαξουν σε κανενα μαγαζι;

Καλησπερα κατοχος Α702 .Δυστυχως προσπαθησα να περασω την τελευταια ROM του ANSAR αλλα το update δεν ξεκινα ποτε .Δεν ξερω αν παιζει ρολο οτι προσπαθω να την εγκαταστησω απο pc με windows 7 ; Τα usb drivers ναι μεν υπαρχουν στον φακελο του ansar αλλα αν ειναι απαραιτητα πως τα εγκαθιστουμε ; Ευχαριστω προκαταβολικα τον οποιοδηποτε που θα εχει καποια λυση !!!

 

Και επισης αν γνωριζει κανεις πως μπορει να αφαιρεθει το active sync του mio ουτως ωστε να μην ειναι συνεχως στην λιστα με τα running programs. Και παλι υποχρεος .:confused:

Ευχαριστω πολυ φιλε για το παραπανω ποστμου εχεις καμμια ιδεα??:)

Δυστυχως αθανασο δεν γινεται τιποτα!Τι αλλη ρομ κατεβασα τι hard reset εκανα ολα τζιφος .Με προβληματιζει μηπως φταιει οτι εχω αγγλικη ρομ -R 39.4.104 - γι αυτο και προσπαθησα να βρω αγγλικη updated αλλα σου λεω οτι το Μιαου αρνειται πεισματικα να κανει update .Και δεν μπαινει κι ο Ansar ρε φιλε .Οσο για το mobile device center που με ρωτησες το εχω κανονικα και δουλευει οκ. Απελπιστηκα και παω για υπνο .

Δυστυχώς και από μένα ένα τίποτα Πατάς το update και δεν κάνει τίποτα
