Keep this rom image in order to flash it when sending the device for service.

 

- The MS_IPL, Uboot, XIP, OS and SYS are the original Mio A501 factory Rom Version R4.3.112

 

- Before flashing make a backup of your files.

C. Instructions to successfully flash the rom image

 

 

 

1. Make sure that Mio A501 can be connected and synchronized with your PC / Laptop.

 

2. Turn on the device while holding down the side joystick and Volume + button.

 

In case the device was on, hold down the side joystick and Volume + button and press the Reset button.

 

In both cases you enter to Uboot Menu.

 

3. If you do not have already installed the USB drivers, it is time to do so.

 

USB drivers are in the download folder with this name.

 

4. After USB driver installation run ChiSync33.exe.

 

5. Tap on Image tab to browse for the downloaded file: Mio_A501_ELL_WM_5.0_OS_5.1.461_B_15671.3.3.0_LZX_by_ansar.bin

 

6. By pressing Info tab you can see this file info.

 

7. Tap on Update to start rom image flashing.

 

8. You can disconnect only when the message of checksum is displayed and ChiSync33.exe is showing the stop sign.

 

9. Wait for the process to finish and your device to boot.

These instructions are for upgrading your Mio A501 Rom.

 

The provided Rom image is based on an official WWE WM 6.1 OS 5.2.21109 Build 21109.1.6.0 version.

 

- The MS_IPL and Uboot are not changed by this build.

 

- The XIP is been upgraded in order to handle 6.1 builds.

 

- This build is User Customization and D3D ready.

 

- You can install M2D from provided cab lib as wel as many other apps.

 

- Before flashing make a backup of your files.

- ChiSync33.exe file

 

- Mio_A501_Rom_Upgrade_Guide.txt file

 

- Mio_A501_WWE_WM_6.1_OS_5.2.21109_B_21109.1.6.0_LZX_by_ansar.bin file and

 

- SDConfig.txt

 

Copy VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00 folder and SDConfig.txt file to your root of Storage Card.

 

( That means as: Storage card\VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00 and Storage card\SDConfig.txt )

Dear forum members,

 

 

This is an official rom in MSFLSH50 format i.e. WinCE image for flashing.

 

You can download it here : http://rapidshare.com/files/405170930/Mio_A201_WWE_WM5_OS_5.1_Build_14406.1.1.0.1_by_ansar.zip.html

 

and keep it to rescue in case of emergency or to return the device for service.

 

Unzip the downloaded Mio_A201_WWE_WM5_OS_5.1_Build_14406.1.1.0.1_by_ansar.zip file and you will have the following:

 

- The readme.txt file and

 

- The winceimg.bin file

 

In order to flash this CE rom image perform the following:

 

1. Format a small (128/256 MB) Storage Card in fat-16 format.

 

2. Place winceimg.bin file in the root of your Storage Card i.e. Storage Card\winceimg.bin.

 

3. Power off your device and insert the above mentioned Storage Card.

 

4. Hold down the navi key of your device and switch the power on to enter Oscar150A UT menu.

 

5. With navi key select 0=FlashROM Upgrade and press navi key in to enter FlashROM Upgrade menu.

 

6. With navi key select 0=CE by SDMMC to start flashing.

This is the new Super Structured and fast Rom for Mio A701:

 

WWE WM6.5 CE OS 5.2.28205 Build 28205.5.3.3, compressed in LZX algorithm.

 

Page Pool is 4MB and the rom is UC, D3D and optionally YouTube ready.

 

- Additional applications can be installed from VistalibWWE28205MVSD6_50 cab folder.

 

- YouTube application is included as a cab with the SDConfig28205YT.txt file but is optional.

 

- CHomeWeather / Titanium today plug in has been integrated in rom with New York settings.

 

- Power service management is also provided in rom.

 

- Backlight.cpl and Power.cpl are fixed.

 

- Backlight must be used for setting the brightness and Backlight.exe for setting the turn off delay time of 10 sec or more.

 

- eUtility is also included in rom at Start\Settings\System.

 

- More graphics are added to Today Screen.

 

- The XIP is new, complete and allows for 28205 builds, LZX compression and Extended_Rom.

 

- The CE image is based on an almost official WM6.5 CE OS 5.2.28205 ( Build 28205.5.3.3 ).

C. Instructions to successfully flash the rom CE image.

 

 

Here bellows are the instructions to successfully flash it.

 

Unzip the downloaded file: Mio_A701_WWE_WM6.5.28205.LZX.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_YouTube_PP4_by_ansar.zip

 

and in the created directory you will have the following:

 

1. The VistalibWWE28205MVSD6_50 directory with the required and optional cabs

 

2. The CHomeWeather Location Database.txt file

 

3. The rom binary image Mio_A701_WWE_WM6.5.28205.LZX.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_YouTube_PP4_by_ansar.bin

 

4. This Readme.txt file

 

5. The SDConfig28205.txt file and

 

6. The SDConfig28205YT.txt

 

Before flashing make a backup of your files in Storage Card using the Data Backup Program or PIM Backup from my previous roms or your favorite backup.

 

Use the same backup application you used to save your data in order to recover them after flashing.

 

Remove any SDConfig.txt file from your Storage Card , copy SDConfig28205.txt or SDConfig28205UT.txt in storage card and rename it to SDConfig.txt.

 

SDConfig28205.txt includes only the reset instruction.

 

SDConfig28205UT.txt is preparing the device in order to be YouTube ready.

 

Flash the Mio_A701_WWE_WM6.5.28205.LZX.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_YouTube_PP4_by_ansar.bin image file as follows:

 

a. Enter Mio A701 in boot loader menu by pressing and holding Volume UP and then also pressing and holding the Power On button.

 

.... When led power on, release both buttons and press the navi down key in order to enter to boot loader.

 

.... Press Navi Down to go to FlashROM Upgrade by USB and press the central Navi key to select this sub menu.

 

.... Then press Navi Down to go to CE img By USB and press the central Navi key to select this option.

 

.... Wait to see the message Waiting for image...

 

b. Check that in a PC/Laptop have unchecked the Allow USB connections option before connecting.

 

.... Connect Mio A701 to a PC/Laptop with a usb cable.

 

.... In Windows Vista we must have the latest version of Windows Mobile Device Center, the Mio A701 Drivers and ScoterRomUpdate-R01.exe installed.

 

c. Place the Mio_A701_WWE_WM6.5.28205.LZX.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_YouTube_PP4_by_ansar.bin, run ScoterRomUpdate-R01.exe and follow the instructions.

 

d. After the successful flashing of the rom, in your device select exit, and then:

 

..... 1. if Uboot 48 is installed in the device, select the Enter Deepsleep option and then perform a Hard Reset.

 

....... Hard Reset is enabled by pressing and holding Volume Down key and then pressing the power button.

 

....... When a vibration is activated, release both keys.

 

..... 2. if not Uboot 48, select WatchDog reset.

 

e. Remember to tick again the Allow USB connections option in your PC in order to activesync by USB cable connection later on.

 

The Rom flashing process will perform as follows:

 

a. Loads all splash screens, performs the welcome screen and displays the initial Today screen.

 

b. Then loads Mobile_Vista theme and

 

c. Executes the final reset and reboots the device.

 

e. The device displays the phone security pin entry procedure and after that enters in Mobile Windows today screen.

 

Note 1: The new keyboard layout has options for small and big letters

 

and it is predefined to initial setup of small letters.

 

Note 2: The left key is assigned to Windows Player.

 

Note 3: The right key is assigned to MapNotice.

 

Note 4: In simple windows mode, Contacts and Total Commander are assigned in the known inside touch keys.

 

Note 5: As you already noticed all screens (initial splash, windows welcome and AutoRun) are redesigned as well as the Mobile_Vista.tsk theme

 

Note 6: Internet explorer has two new home screens.

 

The first has help, IE Home, HTC Home and Xda Developers.

 

If you tap on IE Home the well known iexplorer home screen is seen.

 

When you tap on menu>tools>options you can set the current, IE home as home page.

 

You can always go back to the first page from menu>tools>options and setting use default.

 

Note 7: The well known SRS WOW HD driver is in the rom as package for enhanced HD sound.

Flash the Mio_A702_WWE_WM6.5.28205.LZX.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_PP6_by_ansar.bin image file as follows:

 

1. Make sure that Mio A702 can be connected and synchronized with your PC / Laptop.

 

2. Turn on the device while holding up the side joystick.

 

In case the device was on, hold up the joystick and press the Reset button.

 

In both cases you enter to USB update mode.

 

3. If you do not have already installed the USB drivers, it is time to do so.

 

USB drivers are in the download folder with this name.

 

4. After USB driver installation run ChiSync33.exe.

 

5. Tap on Image tab to browse for the downloaded file: Mio_A702_WWE_WM6.5.28205.LZX.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_PP6_by_ansar.bin

 

6. By pressing Info tab you can see this file info.

 

7. Tap on Update to start rom image flashing.

 

8. You can disconnect only when the message of checksum is displayed and ChiSync33.exe is showing the stop sign.

 

9. Wait for the flash process to finish and your device to boot.

 

a. This boot is the phase-one boot and after splash screen it goes to a black screen.

 

You are waiting for phase-one boot to finish til you hear the characteristic gong sound.

 

b. Now you can enter to final boot phase by pressing the Reset button.

 

Important Notes:

 

1. This two phase boot sequence must be carried out after any future hard reset.

 

2. When YouTube is installed by VistalibWWE28005MVSD6_50\CabToWindows\YouTube.cab then:

 

VistalibWWE28005MVSD6_50\CabToWindows\StreamingMedia.cab

 

must also be installed in order to download YouTube video.

Dear forum members,

 

 

This is the new SuperStructured and fast Rom for Mio A501:

 

WWE WM6.5 CE OS 5.2.28205 Build 28205.5.3.3, compressed in LZX algorithm.

 

Page Pool is 6MB and the rom is UC, D3D and optionally YouTube ready.

 

- Additional applications can be installed from VistalibWWE28205MVSD6_50 cab folder.

 

- YouTube application is included as a cab with the SDConfig28205YT.txt file but is optional.

 

- CHomeWeather / Titanium today plugin has been integrated in rom with New York settings.

 

- Power service management is also provided in rom.

 

- Backlight must be used for setting the brightness and Backlight.exe for setting the turn off delay time of 10 sec or more.

 

- More graphics are added to Today Screen.

 

- The XIP is new, complete and allows for 28205 builds, LZX compression.

 

- The CE image is based on an almost official WM6.5 CE OS 5.2.28205 ( Build 28205.5.3.3 ).

C. Instructions to successfully flash the rom image

 

 

 

Here bellows are the instructions to successfully flash it.

 

Unzip the downloaded file: Mio_A501_WWE_WM6.5.28205.LZX.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_PP6_by_ansar.zip

 

and in the created directory you will have the following:

 

1. The VistalibWWE28205MVSD6_50 directory with the required and optional cabs

 

2. The CHomeWeather Location Database.txt file

 

3. The rom binary image Mio_A501_WWE_WM6.5.28205.LZX.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_PP6_by_ansar.bin

 

4. This Readme.txt file

 

5. The SDConfig28205.txt file and

 

6. The SDConfig28205YT.txt

 

Before flashing make a backup of your files in Storage Card using the Data Backup Program or PIM Backup from my previous roms or your favorite backup.

 

Use the same backup application you used to save your data in order to recover them after flashing.

 

Remove any SDConfig.txt file from your Storage Card , copy SDConfig28205.txt or SDConfig28205UT.txt in storage card and rename it to SDConfig.txt.

 

SDConfig28205.txt includes only the reset instruction.

 

SDConfig28205UT.txt is preparing the device in order to be YouTube ready.

 

Flash the Mio_A501_WWE_WM6.5.28205.LZX.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_PP6_by_ansar.bin image file as follows:

 

1. Make sure that Mio A501 can be connected and synchronized with your PC / Laptop.

 

2. Turn on the device while holding the volume up button.

 

In case the device was on, hold volume up button and press the Reset button.

 

In both cases you enter to USB update mode.

 

3. If you do not have already installed the USB drivers, it is time to do so.

 

USB drivers are in the download folder with this name.

 

4. After USB driver installation run ChiSync33.exe.

 

5. Tap on Image tab to browse for the downloaded file: Mio_A501_WWE_WM6.5.28205.LZX.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_PP6_by_ansar.bin

 

6. By pressing Info tab you can see this file info.

 

7. Tap on Update to start rom image flashing.

 

8. You can disconnect only when the message of checksum is displayed and ChiSync33.exe is showing the stop sign.

 

9. Wait for the flash process to finish and your device to boot.

 

a. This boot is the phase-one boot and after splash screen it goes to a black screen.

 

You are waiting for phase-one boot to finish til you hear the characteristic gong sound.

 

b. Now you can enter to final boot phase by pressing the Reset button.

 

Important Notes:

 

1. This two phase boot sequence must be carried out after any future hard reset.

 

2. When YouTube is installed by VistalibWWE28005MVSD6_50\CabToWindows\YouTube.cab then:

 

VistalibWWE28005MVSD6_50\CabToWindows\StreamingMedia.cab

 

must also be installed in order to download YouTube video.

 

3. In simple windows mode, Contacts and Total Commander are assigned in the known inside touch keys.

 

4. As you already noticed all screens (initial splash, windows welcome and AutoRun) are redesigned as well as the Mobile_Vista.tsk theme

 

5. Internet explorer has two new home screens.

 

The first has help, IE Home, HTC Home and Xda Developers.

 

If you tap on IE Home the well known iexplorer home screen is seen.

 

When you tap on menu>tools>options you can set the current, IE home as home page.

 

You can always go back to the first page from menu>tools>options and setting use default.

 

6. The well known SRS WOW HD driver is in the rom as package for enhanced HD sound.
