First of all you will need todecide which Firmware version you want to use.

Please check here for Information & a comparison of all the Firwares available.

 

Please note that The firmwares 51.14.15 , 51.82.00 , 51.92.08 & 51.95.00 All use the Original Motorola Bootloader

All other versions use the newer Bootloader Version (please check the forums for details)

NB o*nce the Bootloader is over written it is not possible to go back using the below method

 

Using any non-generic Firmware will almost certainly simlock your phone to a provider even

if it had already been unlocked.

 

All generic versions at the time of writing will not lock the phone, But also will not unlock a locked Phone either.

 

This guide was based o*n the 51.92.08 Firmware but the procedure is exactly the same for any firmware upgrade.

 

Before you read deity's guide please remember Read this Guide a few times so that you

understand what to do.

Before flashing the phone here are the cautions:

 

a) *** Flashing your A1000 with a new firmware will NOT UNLOCK your phone if it has been locked to a network, however, flashing it with some firmware might LOCK your phone to a certain network (not necessarily the original network). The 51.92.08 (generic) firmware available o*n this site will NOT LOCK your phone to any network if it has already been unlocked, but also will NOT UNLOCK your phone, it would simply remain locked to the same network. ***

 

b) *** Everything stored o*n the internal memory would be lost after a firmware flash, it might NOT be possible and normally NOT RECOMMENDED to perform a restore from backups (by Desktop Suite) of the phones with other firmware version. *** You might consider doing backup using some 3rd party software, or synchronise your contact book with Outlook/ outlook express in advance. Regarding your existing SMS, please refer to this thread by TzeenieWheenie: http://machman.gotdns.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=946&highlight=

If you have software installed o*n the internal drive, make sure you backup/copy all the data files and license files

 

c) If the reason that you want to reflash your phone is because you have were running low o*n internal storage memory (Free Space o*n C: Drive) that is causing your problems (very very slow respond time and lengthly boot up time <- reports/experiences suggest that it could take over 15 minutes to finish a boot up but it should eventually managed to boot up), there is another solution available, see the Tips Section: http://machman.gotdns.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=22&page=1

 

d) you might also want to write down the Internet/SMS/GPRS/WAP/E-mail/Voicemail/Video Gateway setting of your current network before doing the flashing, because you would need to enter them to the flashed phone.

i) MS Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) or XP hot fix file Q814560,Q816843,Q810400 & Q822603

ii) Motorola USB Data Cable and with the Main Charger plugged into the USB cable

iii) Program- RSD lite 1.9.1 (4.2MB) Available here:

Procedure:

1) Make sure you have SP2 or the hotfixes installed

2) Unrar/unzip the files to somewhere handy (eg desktop) Go to http://www.rarlab.com/ for software to unrar/unzip (decompress) the files you downloaded form this site (for those who are not familar with using the .rar format, you need to download both Part 1 and Part 2 of the Generic firmware, but you o*nly need to open Part 1 using winrar, and it would automatically search for Part 2, etc. if you put the files in the same directory)

3) Go to the directory where you have decompress the P2K.zip, right click o*n the P2K.INF file and select "Install"

4) Install RSD lite. But don't start the program yet.

5) If running XP, open up task manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) and shut down (go to Processes view, right click o*n the process and then choose End Process Tree) the 3 programs running with the Motorola Desktop suite. (the two MRouter files: mrouterruntime.exe and mrouterconfig.exe and MDS.EXE <- my Desktop Suite ver 1.1.0.1018 uses the file name: desktopsuite.exe instead and as I recall I didn't end the desktopsuite.exe task when I was doing my flashing. Without mrouter running, desktopsuite should not be able to interfere with your phone)

5) Switch off your A1000, remove the battery, hold down the two game buttons (on top) and plug in USB cable with charger attached. Phone will enter the firmware upgrade screen.

6) Start RSDlite, allow windows to install all necessary drivers, just allow Windows XP to automatically to search for the drivers (if XP could not find the drivers, you might try to point it to search the directory where you unzipped the P2K drivers and also the RSD lite directory, but this should not be necessary)

7) In the RSDlite screen, your A1000 will show as A920 or unknown. The phone screen will read connected. Click the box with the 3 dots next to the start button. Locate the downloaded firmware file. Now click start. It takes a while, your phone screen will finally indicate something other that Motorola 3G, halfway through you might even see more drivers being installed, again if asked, just tell XP to automatically search for the drivers.

8 ) User experience varies at this point, some users (including myself) will see a successfully flashing as reported by RSDLite and the phone (phone should restart itself). Others report that o*nce it reaches 100% the process will say failed, and feedback from users who have experience in flashing their A100 with older firmware claim that the flash is actually a success regardless of RSDLite saying otherwise. However, they also recommend to repeat the above flashing procedure a second time even it reports a successful flash (this may be old bug/feature from previous firmware/RSD lite which is no longer necessary, I personally o*nly have flashed o*nly o*nce) To reflash again: close RSD Lite, switch off phone (1/0 switch o*n the right side of the phone), unplug phone from USB cable and start from 5)

9) Do all the initial settings (language, time etc.)

10) RSD lite will show: status finished; result PASS

11) Now you may close RSD lite and unplug USB cable

 

12) Reboot/restart your phone and you might be presented with more initial settings (like the screen calibration)

 

13) Now you will need to enter your network setting to the "new" phone. Take a look at the Tips and Guide section o*n this website and if you are with 3 UK, then the following URL:

Παιδιά προσοχή με την εγκατάσταση των firmware.Εβαλα την 54 07 11 Και κληδοσε.μου γράφει USIM EMERGENCY ONLY, Τώρα τρέχω,πέρασα την 51 95 00 ούτε να την βλέπει δεν θέλει , μετά πέρασα την 54 07 00 hybrid αυτή την βλέπει αλλά πάλι είναι κληδομενο,αν γνωρίζει κανένας user τίποτα ας γράψει κάτι.

Στο α925 η 35 80 61 είναι πολύ καλή έκδοση περαστέ την ανεπιφύλακτα.

Τώρα μετάξει Vodafone και Cosmote η cosmote μου φένετε πιο εύκολη, αν κάποιος φίλος θέλει κάτι να ρωτήσει ας μου στείλει ένα e-mail.

η εκδοση 54.07.11 δεν κλειδωνει το κινητο φιλε μου διαβασε και αλλα site στο εξωτερικο και θα μαθεις περισσοτερα προφανως δεν πετυχε το flash η εκδοση 54.07 ειναι η εκδοση που εχει βγαλει η 3 italia και ξανακλειδωνει το κινητο .αν ειχες διαβασει ολα τα προηγουμενα topic θα εβλεπες οτι τα γραφω αναλυτικα>

 

Firmware REL 54.07.00 A1000 U_34.30.01P 000 1FF Brand 3 κλειδωνει bootloader και ξανακλειδωνει το κινητο και επαναφερει τισ ρυθμισεις τις 3.

 

Firmware REL_54.08.00_A1000_NO_LOCK_U_34.30.03P_SE5056AE8W8_001_1FF δεν κλειδωνει τιποτα δεν εχει αναφερ8ει κανενα προβλημα

μεχρι σημερα υστερα απο 2 χρονια σχεδον η καλυτερη εκδοση που εχω χρησιμοποιησει ειναι η 51.95 generic και η 54.07.11 generic

 

αλλη φορα οταν γραφεις κατι να φροντιζεις να το επιβεβαιωνεις και κυριως να το ψαχνεις στη τεραστεια εγκυκλοπαιδεια που λεγετε GOOGLE.

 

Tο προβλημα που ανεφερες εχει ξανασυμβει και οφειλετε οτι δεν εγινε σωστα το flash οταν εκανες το firmware update.τωρα το κινητο κλειδωσε στην 3 απο τη χωρα που το ειχες αγορασει και επιτρεπει μονο την καρτα που ειχε αγοραστει.δυστηχως τα κακα νεα για σενα φιλε μου ειναι οτι μεχρι σημερα δεν εχει βγει ακομα το ξεκλειδωμα καθως εχει κλειδωσει το bootloader kai to operator lock.

Ευχαριστώ φίλε για τα άσχημα νέα σου,αν μάθεις κάτι είμαι σίγουρος ότι θα το αναφέρεις, όσο για το κλήδομα του τηλεφώνου, διαβασμένος πήγα να κάνω την αναβάθμιση ,άλοστε ασχολούμαι πολύ αφού έχω 1 μότο 925 και 2 μότο α1000,

και παρακολουθώ σχεδόν τα πάντα για αυτά τα τηλέφωνα .Να σου πω την αλήθεια την πάτησα γιατί προσπάθησα να αλλάξω τα εικονίδια στο μενού (home) και να τα κάνω Ελληνικά από τότε μου κλείδωσε . Έχω κατεβάσει ένα σωρό πράγματα από το internet, αν καταφέρω κάτι θα το αναφέρω, πάντως πρέπει να σιγουρευτώ για τα κλειδώματα – ξεκλειδόματα αν τα καταφέρω θα του αλάξω τα φώτα γιατί του αξίζει. ΜΟΤΟΡΟΛΑ ΟΛΑ ΓΙΑ ΟΛΑ ΓΕΑ.
