September 6, 2005 Red 1, Squadron Leader Dicky Patounas http://www.raf.mod.uk/reds/images/red1.jpg Squadron Leader Dicky Patounas, 34, is in his first year as Officer Commanding The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, and flies as Red 1. His father’s family comes from Rhodes in Greece but Dicky was born in Colchester, Essex. At the age of 6, Dicky moved to Maidenhead, Berkshire, where he later won a Royal Air Force Sixth Form Scholarship whilst at Desborough School. He was commissioned into the Royal Air Force in 1989 upon completion of his A-Levels. After initial flying training Dicky was posted to Royal Air Force Valley as a flying instructor, where he taught students on the Hawk aircraft. His next tour was on the Jaguar; one of the Royal Air Force’s single-seat attack and reconnaissance aircraft. During his time with No. 54(F) Squadron, based at Royal Air Force Coltishall, Norfolk, Dicky took part in operations over the Balkans and international exercises in Europe, the USA and the Middle East. In 1997, aged 27, he became one of the youngest pilots ever to join The Red Arrows, and flew as Synchro Leader in his third year on the Team. At the end of his initial three-year tour on The Red Arrows, Squadron Leader Patounas returned to the Jaguar where he again took part in exercises around the world. He then undertook a staff tour on the Royal Air Force’s new Typhoon aircraft; which he was lucky enough to fly. During his time so far in the Royal Air Force, Squadron Leader Patounas has amassed over 3000 hours of military fast jet flying experience. Squadron Leader Patounas is married to Joanne. His interests include running, motorcycling, wine and showing his dog, a Rhodesian Ridgeback who appeared at Crufts earlier this year. “I am extremely proud to be selected to lead The Red Arrows. September 6, 2005 Απιστευτο πραγματικα!!!! εχω βγαλει τουλαχιστον 80 φωτογραφιες :D προπομπος ηταν ενα F16 ενα F4 ενα A7 και ενα Mirage 2000 δικα μας και επειτα ακολουθησαν τα 10 αεροσκαφη Hawk. Ειδικα οταν κανανε την καρδια και ηρθε ο αλλος και εκανε το βελος (με την απαραιτητη διακοπη στη γραμμη εκει που τεμνει την καρδια για να δινει αισθηση 3d παρακαλω) εμεινα μαλ***!!! September 6, 2005 Το εμαθα τελευταια στιγμη για σημερα (Στις 16:00) και επειδη δεν ηταν δυνατον να το χασω , το κανονισα και κατεβηκα με μια μηχανη . Αλλιως δεν υπηρχε περιπτωση να προλαβω , γιατ ειχε την απιστευτη κινηση . Αnyway , το show πραγματικα απιστευτο ! Αξιζε ... Θα παω και στην Ταναγρα (οπου υπηρετησα κιολλας πριν μερικους μηνες) στις 18 του μηνος .
