Dear forum members,
These instructions are for upgrading your Mio A501 Rom.
The provided Rom image is based on an official WWE WM 6.1 OS 5.2.21109 Build 21109.1.6.0 version.
- The MS_IPL and Uboot are not changed by this build.
- The XIP is been upgraded in order to handle 6.1 builds.
- This build is User Customization and D3D ready.
- You can install M2D from provided cab lib as wel as many other apps.
- Before flashing make a backup of your files.

C. Instructions to successfully flash the rom image
Unzip the downloaded file Mio_A501_WWE_WM6_1_OS_5.2.21109_Build_21109.1.6.0_by_ansar.zip and you will have:
- USB driver folder
- VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00 folder
- ChiSync33.exe file
- Mio_A501_Rom_Upgrade_Guide.txt file
- Mio_A501_WWE_WM_6.1_OS_5.2.21109_B_21109.1.6.0_LZX_by_ansar.bin file and
- SDConfig.txt
Copy VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00 folder and SDConfig.txt file to your root of Storage Card.
( That means as: Storage card\VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00 and Storage card\SDConfig.txt )
Rom Flashing Guide Lines:
1. Make sure that Mio A501 can be connected and synchronized with your PC / Laptop.
2. Turn on the device while holding the Volume + button.
In case the device was on, hold the Volume + button, and press the Reset button.
In both cases you enter to USB update mode.
3. If you do not have already installed the USB drivers, it is time to do so.
USB drivers are in the download folder with this name.
4. After USB driver installation run ChiSync33.exe.
5. Tap on Image tab to browse for the downloaded file: Mio_A501_WWE_WM_6.1_OS_5.2.21109_B_21109.1.6.0_LZX_by_ansar.bin
6. By pressing Info tab you can see this file info.
7. Tap on Update to start rom image flashing.
8. You can disconnect only when the message of checksum is displayed and ChiSync33.exe is showing the stop sign.
9. Wait for the process to finish and your device to boot.
Important Notes:
2. When Manila 2D is installed by VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00\CabToWindows\M2DSeaDragon.cab then:
VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00\CabToWindows\Album.cab
must also be installed in order adding contacts to be enabled in M2D.
3. When Manila 2D is installed by VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00\CabToWindows\M2DSeaDragon.cab then:
VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00\CabToWindows\AudioManager.cab
VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00\CabToWindows\CommMnanager.cab
VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00\CabToWindows\OperaBrowser.cab and
VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00\CabsToProgramFiles\GoogleMaps.cab
may also be installed, but is not a must.
4. When StreamingMedia.cab is installed by VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00\CabToWindows\StreamingMedia.cab then:
VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00\CabToWindows\Album.cab and
VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00\CabToWindows\Q8Real.cab
must also be installed
5. S2U2.cab is also provided as option in SeaDragon colors.

Hi,
This procedure can be applied to all devices and is usefull in order to create the original backup of your rom image.
****************************************************************************************
Before upgrade your rom for first time, backup your device rom as follows.
****************************************************************************************
What you need as extra:
1. registry editor, installed in your pda from a *.cab (registry editor is a free cab)
2. itsutils form Scoter Kitchen or from other source, installed in your PC/Laptop (at C:\Itsutils)
What to do initially:
Set with registry editor aka regedit the following values:
HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies
Name #00001001 must have data set to 1
Name #0000101a must have data set to 1
What to do next:
1. You must have Command Prompt (shortcut) in the folder where itsutils are in your PC/laptop C:\itsutils>
.. If you have the Scoter Kitchen already installed.
2. Connect your PDA to your PC. You can use NT, XP, Vista, it does not matter, but make sure it is connected with activesynch.
3. Double click Command Prompt in C:\itsutils> and run the command:

and you get something like this:

Note: TrueFFS, 0x11fc00 for Part00, 0x1b0000 for Part01, 0x2e50000 for Part02 etc are of Mio A701.
For your device will have different name and values, and you must use your own.
4: You can test the size of each partition i.e. for Part00, with this: pdocread -w -d TrueFFS -p Part00 -t
C:\itsutils>pdocread -w -d TrueFFS -p Part00 -t
and you get something like this:
C:\itsutils>pdocread -w -d TrueFFS -p Part00 -t
real nr of sectors: 2302 - 1.12Mbyte (0x11fc00)
5. Now using the resulted addresses 0x11fc00 of Part00, 0x1b0000 of Part01 and 0x2e50000 of Part02
you can save in Part00.raw, Part01.raw and Part02.raw files the relevant partitions as:
C:\itsutils>pdocread -w -d TrueFFS -b 0x800 -p Part00 0 0x11fc00 Part00.raw
.. and
C:\itsutils>pdocread -w -d TrueFFS -b 0x800 -p Part01 0 0x1b0000 Part01.raw
.. and
C:\itsutils>pdocread -w -d TrueFFS -b 0x800 -p Part02 0 0x2e50000 Part02.raw
Zip or rar these three *.raw files, upload them and let me know the link in order to proceed for the rom image build.

Threre are no cab files to be installed during boot phase.
Rom Flashing Guide Lines:
1. Make sure that Mio A702 can be connected and synchronized with your PC / Laptop.
2. Turn on the device while holding up the side joystick.
In case the device was on, hold up the joystick and press the Reset button.
In both cases you enter to USB update mode.
3. If you do not have already installed the USB drivers, it is time to do so.
USB drivers are in the download folder with this name.
4. After USB driver installation run ChiSync33.exe.
5. Tap on Image tab to browse for the downloaded file: Mio_A702_WWE_WM6.5_OS_5.2.28005_Build_28005.5.3.0_by_ansar.bin
6. By pressing Info tab you can see this file info.
7. Tap on Update to start rom image flashing.
8. You can disconnect only when the message of checksum is displayed and ChiSync33.exe is showing the stop sign.
9. Wait for the flash process to finish and your device to boot.
a. This boot is the phase-one boot and after splash screen it goes to a black screen.
You are waiting for phase-one boot to finish til you hear the characteristic gong sound.
b. Now you can enter to final boot phase by pressing the Reset button.
Important Notes:
1. This two phase boot sequence must be carried out after any future hard reset.
2. When YouTube is installed by VistalibWWE28005MVSD6_50\CabToWindows\YouTube.cab then:
VistalibWWE28005MVSD6_50\CabToWindows\StreamingMedia.cab
must also be installed in order to download YouTube video.
3. When Manila 2D is installed by VistalibWWE28005MVSD6_50\CabToWindows\M2DSeaDragon.cab then:
VistalibWWE28005MVSD6_50\CabToWindows\AudioManager.cab
VistalibWWE28005MVSD6_50\CabToWindows\CommMnanager.cab

These instructions are for upgrading your Mio A702 Rom.
The provided Rom image is based on an official WWE WM 6.1 OS 5.2.21109 Build 21109.1.6.0 version.
- The MS_IPL and Uboot are not changed by this build.
- The XIP is been upgraded in order to handle 6.1 builds.
- This build is User Customization and D3D ready.
- You can install M2D and YouTube from provided cab lib as wel as many other apps.
- Before flashing make a backup of your files.

C. Instructions to successfully flash the rom image
Unzip the downloaded file Mio_A702_WWE_WM6_1_OS_5.2.21109_Build_21109.1.6.0_by_ansar.zip and you will have:
- USB driver folder
- ChiSync33.exe file
- Mio_A702_WWE_WM6_1_OS_5.2.21109_Build_21109.1.6.0_by_ansar.bin
- VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00 folder
- SDConfig.txt file and
- Mio_A702_Rom_Upgrade_Guide.txt file
Copy VistaLib folder and SDConfig.txt file to your root of Storage Card.
( That means as: Storage card\VistaLib and Storage card\SDConfig.txt )
This will enable the required SeaDragonFiles_21109.cab to be installed during final boot phase.
Rom Flashing Guide Lines:
1. Make sure that Mio A702 can be connected and synchronized with your PC / Laptop.
2. Turn on the device while holding up the side joystick.
In case the device was on, hold up the joystick and press the Reset button.
In both cases you enter to USB update mode.
3. If you do not have already installed the USB drivers, it is time to do so.
USB drivers are in the download folder with this name.
4. After USB driver installation run ChiSync33.exe.
5. Tap on Image tab to browse for the downloaded file: Mio_A702_WWE_WM6_1_OS_5.2.21109_Build_21109.1.6.0_by_ansar.bin
6. By pressing Info tab you can see this file info.
7. Tap on Update to start rom image flashing.
8. You can disconnect only when the message of checksum is displayed and ChiSync33.exe is showing the stop sign.
9. Wait for the flash process to finish and your device to boot.
a. This boot is the phase-one boot and after splash screen it goes to a black screen.
You are waiting for phase-one boot to finish til you hear the characteristic gong sound.
b. Now you can enter to final boot phase by pressing the Reset button.
Important Notes:
1. This two phase boot sequence must be carried out after any future hard reset.
2. When YouTube is installed by VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00\CabToWindows\YouTube.cab then:
VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00\CabToWindows\M2DSeaDragon.cab and
VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00\CabToWindows\StreamingMedia.cab
must also be installed in order to download YouTube video.
3. When Manila 2D is installed by VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00\CabToWindows\M2DSeaDragon.cab then:
VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00\CabToWindows\AudioManager.cab
VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00\CabToWindows\CommMnanager.cab
VistalibWWE21109MVSD4_00\CabToWindows\OperaBrowser.cab and

may also be installed, but is not a must.

Hi and sorry for writing in English here,
As far as for the code inside 28005 can be compared with its newer 28205 only.
The XIP is also more advanced and is very fast and the most stable build of all i tested on many and different devices.
Anyway WM 6.1 build 21109.5.0.0 is now about 95% completed for the A702 and will be issued soon.

This is the new Rom for Mio P550: WWE-WM6.5-CE-OS-5.2.28005-Build-28005.5.3.0, Mobile Vista 6.50 SeaDragon.
The CE image is based on the Official WM6.5 CE OS 5.2.28005 ( Build 28005.5.3.0 ).
This SeaDragon 6.50 Version includes the following:
1. Time wizard.
.. A Time Wizard is implemented, so after flashing keep your device usb connected in order for auto date/time input.
2. Power Management.
.. Power management service has been implemented.
.. Backlight.cpl and Power.cpl modules are implemented in order for new languages to be displayed natively.
.. The backlight.cpl accepts 10 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, 2min, 3min, 4min and 5 min on battery power.
.. Icons of AllInOne are working -except phone- in the icon tray.
.. The green battery icon displays the power.exe module.
... From that icon we change only power device turn off setings.
.. The icon battery in the Task Bar top right displays the backlight.exe module.
... From this module the backlight timeout can be changed and take place immediately at 10sec, 30sec, 1min, 2min, 3min, 4min and 5min.
... Do not change the screen's brightness from this module due to a reset is needed for settings to be applied.
.. The backlight from Start\SettingsSystem adjusts brightness imediately but do not set backlight turn off from this module.
4. Audio Management.
.. Windows Media Player is included.
.. Audio Manager, as a cab in VistaLibWWE28005MVSD6_50, is also provided in seadragon colors.
5. Blue Tooth wireless stereo.
.. Wireless Stereo has been reworked and the provided a2dp is almost lag/skip free..
.. It was tested with BB-02 wireless stereo head phone with very good results.
6. Obex over Blue Tooth.
.. Obex File Transport is supported and you can send/receive files with total commander and fexplorer easily.
7. Blue Tooth over Activesync.
.. You can connect your device wireless and have control of all your windows and SD card files.
.. Advanced network functionality from Start\Settings\Connections\USB to PC is activated.
.. Genarally we first activesync our device with a USB cable connection and then over bluetooth.
8. WiFi/Wlan Management.
.. The original OEM drivers are included.
.. It is also included the WiFicountry.cab.
a. User Interfaces.
.. The windows mobile 6.5 interface.
.. An SDConfig.txt file is provided with the a simple reset function.

C. Instructions to successfully flash the rom CE image
Here bellows are the instructions to successfully flash it.
Unzip the downloaded file: Mio_P550_WWE_WM6.5.28005.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_by_ansar.zip
and in the created directory you will have the following:
1. The RomUpgrade folder.
2. The VistaLibWWE28005MVSD6_50 folder.
3. This readme.txt file.
3. The control text file SDConfig.txt of a single rest instruction.
Before flashing we make a backup of our files in Storage Card using your favorite backup.
In case you do not have a backup application install the PIMBackup.cab found in the VistaLibWWE28005MVSD6_50 directory.
Use the same backup application you used to save your data in order to recover them after flashing.
Place the VistaLibWWE28005MVSD6_50 dir and the SDConfig.txt file in the Storage Card and
flash the Mio_P550_WWE_WM6.5.28005.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_by_ansar.nb0 image file as follows:
1. Install the required usb driver found in the USB driver folder
2. Enter Mio P550 in boot loader menu as follows:
2.1 In case the device is at power off state:
.... Press and hold the joystick DOWN and then Power on the device.
2.2 In case the device is at power on state:
.... Press and hold the joystick DOWN and then also press the reset button.
3. In both 2.1 and 2.2 when see the blue color screen, release joystick. You are at Oscar250/260AB_UT_R12 menu.
4. Connect the device with your PC/Laptop using a USB cable.
5. Press joystick to select 0=Image Upgrade Tools menu.
6. Then press joystick to select 0=Image by USB.
7. Wait to see the messages Download & Run, Waiting for download..., USB Cable connected.
8. From RomUpgrade folder run dnw5.0e.exe
9. Verify that [uSB:OK] is displayed in the DNW v0.50E popup window title bar.
10. From USB port menu select Transmit
11. Select Mio_P550_WWE_WM6.5.28005.MobileVista6.50SeaDragon_by_ansar.nb0 file and click on open.
12. The downloading and flashing process will start and will finish at the same menu: Image Upgrade Tools
13. Close DNW v0.50E popup window.
14. With the joystick select 2=Exit to return in the Uboot menu.
15. Hard reset your device by holding UP the joystick and then pressing the reset button.
16. Wait to see the splash screen and then release the joystick.
The rom upgrade process will perform as follows:
a. Loads all splash screens, performs the welcome screen and displays the initial Today screen.
b. Then loads Mobile_Vista theme and installs the cabs that reside in the rom.
c. Executes the reset instruction of SDConfig.txt and
d. Will finish after machine's final Reset and final boot.

3. Form the Uboot Menu select 0=Image Ugrade Tools and press joystick.
4. From Image Ugrade tools menu select 0=Image by USB and press joystick.
5. If you do not have already installed the USB drivers, it is time to do so.
USB drivers are in the download folder with this name.
6. After USB driver installation run dnw5.0e.exe.
7. Select Configuration>Options and make sure that USB Port download address is 0x3000000.
8. Select USB port>Status and see if the USB info screen is displayed.
9. Select USB port>Transmit and open Mio_P350_WWE_WM_5.0_OS_5.1.195_B_14929.2.2.1_by_ansar.nb0.
a. Wait for the process to finish, disconnect and power of your device.
b. Hold up the joystick and power on your device in order to perform a hard reset.
c. Release joystick after splash screen is seen.

Dear forum members, Χρόνια Πολλά,
This is the new Rom for Mio P550: WWE-WM6.1-CE-OS-5.2.21109-Build-21109.1.6.0, Mobile Vista 4.00 SeaDragon UC.
The CE image is based on the Official WM6.1 CE OS 5.2.21109 ( Build 21109.5.0.0 ).
This SeaDragon 4.00 Version includes the following:
1. Time wizard.
.. A Time Wizard is implemented, so after flashing keep your device usb connected in order for auto date/time input.
2. Power Management.
.. Power management service has been implemented.
.. Backlight.cpl and Power.cpl modules are implemented in order for new languages to be displayed natively.
.. The backlight.cpl accepts 10 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, 2min, 3min, 4min and 5 min on battery power.
.. Icons of AllInOne are working -except phone- in the icon tray.
.. The green battery icon displays the power.exe module.
... From that icon we change only power device turn off setings.
.. The icon battery in the Task Bar top right displays the backlight.exe module.
... From this module the backlight timeout can be changed and take place immediately at 10sec, 30sec, 1min, 2min, 3min, 4min and 5min.
... Do not change the screen's brightness from this module due to a reset is needed for settings to be applied.
.. The backlight from Start\SettingsSystem adjusts brightness imediately but do not set backlight turn off from this module.
4. Audio Management.
.. Windows Media Player is included.
.. Audio Manager, as a cab in VistaLibWWE21109MVSD4_00, is also provided in seadragon colors.
5. Blue Tooth wireless stereo.
.. Wireless Stereo has been reworked and the provided a2dp is almost lag/skip free..
.. It was tested with BB-02 wireless stereo head phone with very good results.
6. Obex over Blue Tooth.
.. Obex File Transport is supported and you can send/receive files with total commander and fexplorer easily.
7. Blue Tooth over Activesync.
.. You can connect your device wireless and have control of all your windows and SD card files.
.. Advanced network functionality from Start\Settings\Connections\USB to PC is activated.
.. Genarally we first activesync our device with a USB cable connection and then over bluetooth.
8. WiFi/Wlan Management.
.. The original OEM drivers are included.
.. It is also included the WiFicountry.cab.
a. User Interfaces.
.. The windows mobile 6.1 interface.
.. An SDConfig.txt file is provided with the a simple reset function.
b. Applications.
The additonal applications included inside the rom are as follows:

C. Instructions to successfully flash the rom CE image
Here bellows are the instructions to successfully flash it.
Unzip the downloaded file: Mio_P550_WWE_WM6.1.21109.MobileVista4.00SeaDragon_by_ansar.zip
and in the created directory you will have the following:
1. The RomUpgrade folder.
2. The VistaLibWWE21109MVSD4_00 folder.
3. This readme.txt file.
3. The control text file SDConfig.txt of a single rest instruction.
Before flashing we make a backup of our files in Storage Card using your favorite backup.
In case you do not have a backup application install the PIMBackup.cab found in the VistaLibWWE21109MVSD4_00 directory.
Use the same backup application you used to save your data in order to recover them after flashing.
Place the VistaLibWWE21109MVSD4_00 dir and the SDConfig.txt file in the Storage Card and
flash the Mio_P550_WWE_WM6.1.21109.MobileVista4.00SeaDragon_by_ansar.bin image file as follows:
1. Install the required usb driver found in the USB driver folder
2. Enter Mio P550 in boot loader menu as follows:
2.1 In case the device is at power off state:
.... Press and hold the joystick DOWN and then Power on the device.
2.2 In case the device is at power on state:
.... Press and hold the joystick DOWN and then also press the reset button.
3. In both 2.1 and 2.2 when see the blue color screen, release joystick. You are at Oscar250/260AB_UT_R12 menu.
4. Connect the device with your PC/Laptop using a USB cable.
5. Press joystick to select 0=Image Upgrade Tools menu.
6. Then press joystick to select 0=Image by USB.
7. Wait to see the messages Download & Run, Waiting for download..., USB Cable connected.
8. From RomUpgrade folder run dnw5.0e.exe
9. Verify that [uSB:OK] is displayed in the DNW v0.50E popup window title bar.
10. From USB port menu select Transmit
11. Select Mio_P550_WWE_WM6.1.21109.MobileVista4.00SeaDragon_by_ansar.nb0 file and click on open.
12. The downloading and flashing process will start and will finish at the same menu: Image Upgrade Tools
13. Close DNW v0.50E popup window.
14. With the joystick select 2=Exit to return in the Uboot menu.
15. Hard reset your device by holding UP the joystick and then pressing the reset button.
16. Wait to see the splash screen and then release the joystick.
The rom upgrade process will perform as follows:
a. Loads all splash screens, performs the welcome screen and displays the initial Today screen.
b. Then loads Mobile_Vista theme and installs the cabs that reside in the rom.
c. Executes the reset instruction of SDConfig.txt and
d. Will finish after machine's final Reset and final boot.
