Xiaomi Mi A3 spotted with 48MP rear camera: Triple rear cameras, Android One confirmed
The Xiaomi Mi A3 has been spotted on certification documents in Singapore. The phone is confirmed to come with 48-megapixel primary rear camera and Android One.
Xiaomi may be busy preparing itself for launching its 2019 flagships Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro in the Indian market. However, the company unveiled another premium midrange phone series in China called the Mi CC9 series. There are two models right now in this series - the Mi CC9 and Mi CC9e. Both these phones have triple rear cameras, offer an in-display fingerprint sensor and a premium design. Before the launch, rumours suggested the Mi CC9 would be introduced globally as the Mi A3 and a set of new leaks only confirm the same.
A set of fresh leaks on the web have uncovered a new Xiaomi device that's up for certification at FCC and Singapore's IMDA. The documents reveal a new Xiaomi phone that will be a part of the Android One program. The leaked schematics reveal an Android One branding on the device and triple rear camera setup. The schematics don't show any rear fingerprint sensor which hints towards the presence of an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Further digging into the documents, it reveals that the codename of this secret device matches with the recently launched Mi CC9e in China. The Mi CC9e is the affordable version of the Mi CC9 and comes with certain compromises to keep the price low. The document also reveals that this phone will have a 48-megapixel primary camera in its triple camera setup at the rear.
While the document doesn't reveal any other specifications of the phone, it is evident that Xiaomi will be adapting the Mi CC9e into one of the Mi A3 series phones. Similar to last year, Xiaomi could be offering two variants of the device - Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite. The Mi CC9 could form the underpinnings of the Mi A3 whereas the Mi CC9e could be rebranded as the Mi A3 Lite. India will most probably get the Mi A3 only and there are chances that Xiaomi could slot it in between the Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi K20.
With the certification listing confirming the existence of the Mi A3 series, it is easy to guess what this phone will bring to the Indian market. The Mi A3 will be probably based on the Mi CC9, which means it will be powered by the Snapdragon 710 chipset with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. For the display, it will sport a 6.3-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch on the top.
The display will house an in-screen fingerprint sensor. For the cameras, there will be a 32-megapixel camera at the front for selfies. At the back, it features a triple camera combination of a 48-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel depth camera. The phone is kept alive by a 4030mAh battery.
