Σύμφωνα με μια αξιόπιστη πηγή Baidu Tieba (Chinese version of Reddit) που περσι τον Δεκέμβριο είχε αποκαλύψει το Surface 3 με ακρίβεια και σύμφωνα με αυτήν την πηγή δεν αναμένεται 2 εκδόσεις του Surface Pro 4,αλλα μονο μια συσκευή μεταξύ 12-13 ιντσών με πιθανότερο 12.3 ίντσες στις ίδιες διαστάσεις του Pro 3.

 

Και όχι μονο αυτο αλλα οτι στην entry level πρόταση θα συμπεριλάβει Core M Skylake edition και στα mid-high end Skylake U σειρά με fan.

Εντύπωση μου κάνει πάντως και είμαι επιφυλακτικός από τη στιγμή που όλα τα μεγάλα sites παγκοσμίως κάνουν λόγο για δύο εκδόσεις... TheVerge, PhoneArena και ειδικά WindowsCentral σπάνια πέφτουν τόσο έξω λίγες μέρες πριν την παρουσίαση... Ειδικά το WC έχει μπόλικες πηγές στη MS... Να μην γνωρίζουν κάτι ναι, αλλά να γράφουν με τόση βεβαιότητα τέτοιο λάθος τόσο καιρό μου μοιάζει απίθανο... Χωρίς να το αποκλείω κιόλας... Επίσης αν ίσχυε κάτι τέτοιο η MS θα το είχε διαρρεύσει πιστεύω στα ΜΜΕ για να μην δημιουργηθεί αρνητική εντύπωση στην παρουσίαση του... Σκέφτομαι εγώ τώρα και από πλευράς marketing :p

Για εμένα απο την αρχή το είχα για αουτσάιντερ 14αρα version απλά επειδή το αναφέρουν the verge κλπ για αυτο τείνω στο 50-50.

 

Και για το προχωρήσω λίγο παραπάνω πιστεύω οτι η 14αρα version πιο πολυ επιθυμητό(σαν επιθυμία)σαν μοντέλο ήταν/ειναι απο πολλούς και εδω αλλα και εξωτερικό πολλοι περισσότερο και φοβάμαι μην απογοητευτούν.

 

Εγω τείνω προς οτι αυστηρά 1 μοντέλο θα βγει και για λόγους οτι μου φαινεται εξαιρετικά δύσκολο να είχε 2 δαπανηρά project έρευνας και ανάπτυξης με διαφορετικά components για διαφορετικό μεγεθος συσκευών.

 

Μην ξεχνάμαι οτι η Skylake αρχιτεκτονική απαιτεί ολοκληρωτική και ριζική αλλαγή στα ενδότερα και στην ουσία χτίσιμο απο το μηδέν.

 

 

Και ακόμα πιο πολυ να το προχωρήσω αν έβγαινε 14αρα θα ήταν μια μονο version με minimum i7/8/256 και τιμή εκκίνησης τα 1500-1600 που θα απευθύνονταν σε ενα πολυ περιορισμένο κοινό 5-10% maximum.

 

Entry level δεν θα έβγαζε στην 14αρα version που να απευθύνονταν στην πιο πλατιά μάζα.

Λογικη ακουγεται η φημη.. Κριμα αν ειναι ετσι γιατι δε βλέπω να πεφτει πολυ η τιμη του surface pro 3 στα μεταχειρισμένα.. :)

Δεν εχει σχεση το ενα με το αλλο στην εμπειρία χρησης. Το ταμπλετ ακομα και στις 14 ιντσες το βαζεις πανω στο στηθος στο κρεβατι ξαπλωμενος, αριστερα, δεξια κλπ. Και σιγουρα θα ειναι πολυ ελαφρύτερο και λεπτοτερο απο καθε ultrabook 14 ιντσων.

Ενα ταμπλετ 14 ιντσες το επαιρνα με 1000. Ενα ultrabook με τιποτα.. Και δεν ειμαι ο μονος. Θα ακουσεις παρα πολλους να λενε το ιδιο.

Βεβαια αμα το βγαλει στα 1500ε +, (που καπου εκει θα το βγαλει με 256 γιγα, 8 γιγα core i5 sky lake), θα το παρουν λιγοι..

Σε μερικα χρονια αν βγει κατι τετοιο και κανει 800€ θα δεις τι θα γινει.. Το συντριπτικο κομμάτι της αγορας θα παρει και θα σβησει και πολλα ταμπλετ android, ipad..

Νομίζω κάνεις λάθος... Tο Yoga Pro 3 είναι μόλις 300 γραμμάρια πιο βαρύ από το Surface και είναι 14" και με κανονικό πληκτρολόγιο... Οπότε και ένα 14άρι Surface θα πλησιάσει περισσότερο το βάρος του... Αν έχεις την ευκαιρία το έχουν σε πολλά Public οπότε αν περάσεις δες το και θα αλλάξεις άποψη...

Ναι, το εχω δει. Καλο ειναι και το yoga pro 3, το εχω μεσα στα υποψηφια και αυτο.. Περιπου 400 γρ βαρύτερο ειναι για την ακρίβεια.. Αμα το πληκτρολόγιο εβγαινε οπως στο surface, σίγουρα θα ηταν ελαφρυτερο ως ταμπλετ, οποτε μου φαινεται καλυτερη αυτη η λυση απο το να διπλωνει το πληκτρολογιο απο πισω. Σίγουρα ομως ειναι και θεμα σε τι δινεις προτεραιότητα, στη χρηση ταμπλετ ή λαπτοπ. Και ειναι και θεμα γουστου, γι αυτο άλλωστε πουλανε και τα 2 αρκετα.

This new info leak comes from German-based WinFuture.de, which says that the 8-inch tablet is made almost completed of aluminum. Inside, the report says it has an Intel Atom Z8300 "Cherry Trail" quad-core processor with a clock speed of 1.44 GHz. It also is supposed to have 2GB of RAM, with support for either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, with a microSD card slot for more storage. The report also says it has a 3950mAh battery that allows the tablet to run for up to seven hours.

Κανω καποιο λαθος ή το yoga pro 4 ειναι ποιο παχυ απο το 3? Το 3 0.5 ιντσες διαβαζω δηλ 1250 χιλ (The Yoga 3 Pro measures 13 x 9 x 0.5 inches (W x D x H),). Στα υπολοιπα ιδιο πανω κατω. Ιδιο μεγεθος, ιδια οθονη (το καταλαβαινω απο τα 300nits).

Απλα του αλλαξαν ενα επεξεργαστη. Ενα απλο αναμενομενο update διχως ουσιαστικες βελτιωσεις..

Κοιτα μονο ο επεξεργαστής που ειναι σειρά U έναντι Core M στο 3 φέρνει πολυ σημαντικές διάφορες στην CPU-GPU.

Αυτο απο μονο του ειναι παράγοντας αγοράς και προτιμήσεως.

Επίσης αύξησαν σχεδόν 50% την χωρητικότητα μπαταρίας που ψιλό μέτρια ήταν στο 3

 

Έβαλαν και USB C extra.

Μια ουσιαστική αναβάθμιση δηλαδη.

Δεν βλέπω τι παραπάνω να έκαναν.

 

Ετσι κι αλλιώς η Lenovo εχει και την Thinkpad σειρά για όσους θέλουν διαφορετικό form factor βλέπε Helix 2 η Thinkpad 10 που το δεύτερο προ των πυλών κυκλοφορία με Cherry Trail ενώ μέσα στο χειμώνα θα βγει διάδοχος του Helix 2 με Skylake.

Ενσωματώνουν οτι καλυτερο τεχνολογικά και έχουν πολλά extra που προσφέρουν συνολικά απο πολλές πλευρές.

 

Για να δούμε αν θα ακολουθήσει η MS με το Pro 4 που φημολογείται για borderless υλοποίηση.

If true, this would certainly improve the look and feel of the already stellar Surface Pro - indeed, Dell's device was praised exhaustively when the revolutionary display was revealed. Consuming media, especially, would benefit greatly from the uber-thin bezels.

 

There are, however, a few questions that remain. On a laptop like the XPS 13, the lack of bezels might not be a problem, but for a tablet it very well could be, as there would be no place to hold the tablet. Dell solved the problem by making one side of its Venue 7000 tablet extremely long, while almost entirely removing the bezels from the other three sides. If the rumour is true, it is possible that Microsoft will adopt a similar strategy.

 

Another solution, as the source of the rumour suggests, is that the screen size will change dynamically between laptop and tablet mode. If purely a software change, it's possible, but it obviously seems rather unlikely that the screen will be able to change its physical dimensions, leading to some uncertainty about the verity of the claim.

Αυτο το dell οντως φαίνεται εντυπωσιακό.. Και εγω το εχω ξεχωρίσει σε σχεση με οτι αλλο έχουμε δει. Αλλα εχθρος του καλου ειναι το καλυτερο, και μακαρι να αποδειχτει τετοιο το sp4.

Δε νομίζω να αφησει τη θέση του τοσο ευκολα το surface.. Αλλα τελικα ολα θα παιχτουν στην τιμη. Εχουν χαντακωθει τοσα και τοσα καλυτερα προιοντα απλα επειδη ηταν ακριβα.. Θα δείξει. Πρωτη φορα που εχω αγωνια να βγουνε να τα δω.. :lol:

HP unveils 8-inch Envy Note 8 tablet with 10-inch keyboard

 

Windows tablets aren't new of course, but this 8-inch 16:10 FHD tablet with stylus and keyboard support is certainly one-of-a-kind from HP.

 

Windows tablets smaller than 10-inches in screen size are generally uncommon compared to its Android counterparts. Lenovo is one of the few major manufacturers to offer 8-inch Windows tablets with the Miix series, but demand has been low due to public perception of Windows 8. In truth, it's hard to get any actual work on Windows when screen real estate is this limited.

 

Now with Windows 10 in the market, HP is taking its own shot at the 8-inch Windows segment with the new Envy Note 8. The existing Slate 8 tablet is strictly an Android device, so the new Envy tablet is targeted more towards office users especially considering its 16:10 display ratio. Core specifications include:

To make the 8-inch screen easier to use, HP has designed a 10-inch keyboard dock with an active stylus holder specifically for the Envy Note 8. Like on the Spectre x2, the manufacturer is addressing the normally poor keyboards on detachables by using Aluminum for the base and increasing key travel to a deeper 1.5 mm. The touchpad is also extra-wide at 34.8 x 9.8 mm in surface area. The underside of the keyboard is also recessed for sliding in the Envy Note 8 tablet when not in use. From our short time with the device, we can already say that its keyboard dock is of high construction quality with better key feedback than expected.

 

Nonetheless, there are some key downsides to the sleek Envy Note 8. Keyboard size is still quite cramped as anyone who has used a 10-inch netbook can attest. The tablet connects to its base via Bluetooth only and the display angle is not adjustable. Thus, the keyboard houses its own batteries and cannot be used as a secondary battery for charging other devices. Battery life shouldn't be an issue, however, as HP tells us that the base should be able to last for about a month without needing to recharge. If that's the case, we would have certainly liked to see backlit keys since this is marketed as a premium device.

 

The Envy Note 8 launches later this month for $329 with an included active stylus or $429 with both the stylus and keyboard base. Expect our full review on the tablet and keyboard to follow shortly.

The original Spectre x2 detachable launched two years ago and we found it to be pretty decent for its time. By today's standards, however, its thick design and 2 kg weight could certainly be improved considering its small 13.3-inch screen size. Additionally, its hinges suffer from limited angles with too much wobbling for our liking.

 

HP has been well aware of these criticisms and has seemingly addressed them and more with the upcoming Spectre X2 redesign. The all-Aluminum chassis is now sharper and flatter with more defined edges and corners while the aluminum keyboard dock offers both a wider touchpad and more comfortable keys with 1.5 mm of travel. The detachable now weighs just 2.69 pounds with a thickness of 13.15 mm (plus attached base) compared to 4.39 pounds and 17.80 mm of the original Spectre x2. An attached sleeve holds the included active stylus similar to the Surface Pro 3.

 

The new 3.5 mm-thick kickstand is the icing on the cake for the new detachable. The U-shaped design may appear flimsy, but its stainless steel composition feels rigid up to its ~175-degree maximum. HP tells us that they could have went with a rectangular-shaped kickstand a la the Surface Pro 3 instead, but the U-shape design allows for a larger integrated battery in a thinner profile.

 

Perhaps the one downside of the new Spectre x2 is that it will be smaller in screen size than the original Spectre x2. The upcoming model will be just 12-inches with no other sizes announced. There will be no resolutions available above 1080p, either. Additionally, the base attaches via POGO pins only, which contrasts the recently announced Envy Note 8 and its Bluetooth-enabled keyboard base.

 

Nonetheless, the Spectre x2 is looking to be one of the best detachables in the market based on our short time with the device. The hinges have always been the weakest link in this particular category and HP's versatile kickstand solution already looks promising.

 

The Spectre x2, Wacom stylus, and keyboard base will be bundled for $799 starting early November. LTE with Verizon comes standard with no WiFi-only version just yet.

The Spectre x360 is one of the better 2-in-1s available when compared to competitors like the Yoga or Toshiba Satellite Radius 15. The Aluminum-clad convertible manages to stay light and thin without sacrificing stability, so its tablet mode is much less cumbersome to use. HP tells us that this particular model has sold better than the company initially expected. Thus, it's only natural to update it with the latest Intel Skylake U-series.

 

Beyond the expected internal upgrades, HP has embellished a brand new coat of paint on the notebook. We're not gonna lie - it's dark Silver surfaces and Copper edges and corners are very attractive and rather unique in the HP product line. The new Envy and EliteBook refresh, for example, are the usual monotone Silver from top to bottom. The new classy color scheme is a breath of fresh air that we hope to see in more business and higher-end mainstream devices from HP.

 

Otherwise, this is the largely same convertible we know and love aside from a few software updates, updated Bang&Olufsen speakers, and an improved keyboard with a deeper 1.5 mm of travel. Now the company is updating the Acer Aspire R14 line of products with new models featuring 6th-gen Core processors and a refined design with a brush metallic finish, diamond-cut edges, and a thinner 360-degree hinge.

 

The new Acer Aspire R14 will be available in North America later in October with prices starting at $699. It’ll also be available in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa for €799 and up.

 

Acer says the new model measures 0.73 inches thick and weighs about 4.2 pounds, making the new model a little thinner and lighter than the version that came out earlier this year.

 

The notebook will be available with up to 8GB of RAM, solid state storage, and 802.11ac WiFi with MU-MIMO technology.

The Toshiba Satellite Radius 12 is a convertible notebook with a 12.5 inch display, an Intel Skylake processor, and a case that measures just 0.6 inches thick and which weighs about 2.9 pounds.

 

Toshiba introduced the Satellite Radius 12 in September, and now the company has announced that it’ll be available for purchase starting October 18th for $1000 and up.

 

 

If you opt for the $1000 model, you’ll get a version with a 1920 x 1080 pixel display. Want something a little more fancy? Toshiba also has a version with a 3840 x 2160 pixel display and a starting price of $1300.

 

Both models have IPS displays with wide viewing angles, 350-nits of brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass for scratch resistance.

 

Other features include Harman Kardon speakers, Windows 10 software, and support for facial recognition using Windows Hello thanks to an infrared camera. The notebook has a backlit keyboard and features 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth, an HDMI port, two USB 3.0 ports, and one USB Type-C connector with USB 3.1 support. The laptop will be available with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of solid state storage.

 

Toshiba says the Satellite Radius 12 with a full HD display has a brushed metal silver design, while the model with an Ultra HD screen has a carbon gray brushed metal finish.

Toshiba’s 12.5 inch convertible Satellite Radius 12 isn’t the company’s only new 2-in-1 Windows PC. The company also introduced a new dynaPad tablet in Japan.

 

The tablet has a 12 inch display and a detachable keyboard dock. But it’s stand-out feature is probably its support for pen input. The Toshiba dynaPad comes with a Wacom Active Electrostatics TruePen with support for 2,048 levels of pressure sensitivity.

 

By comparison, the new Microsoft Surface Pro tablet has a digitizer and pen that supports 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity. I suspect casual users won’t notice much difference when scribbling hand-written notes, but this could make the Toshiba dynaPad a better option for artists.

 

The tablet has a 1920 x 1280 pixel IPS display with a dual-layer coat of anti-reflection and anti-fingerprint material.

 

The dynaPad weighs about 1.25 pounds, while the tablet and keyboard combined weigh in at about 2.2 pounds.

 

Microsoft says the dynaPad goes up for pre-order in Japan today, but it’ll also be available in the US and Europe in the first quarter of 2016 (although I suspect it might have a different name — Toshiba tends to use the “dyna” name in Japan, while labeling its international products with names like “Satellite”).

Verdict

 

 

For such an expensive tablet we were a little disappointed in the performance scores but maybe that's OK because it's not where the HP Pro Tablet 608 G1 is targeted. The great screen, strong battery, good accessory range, Windows Pro, 4GB RAM and good communication options are valued greatly in the vertical markets where this tablet is targeted. If we had been sent a pen and keyboard case we could have done more to highlight some of the intended usage scenarios but hopefully there's enough in the review here to help you decide if this Windows tablet fits your requirements.

 

Build quality appears to be very good and there's a good selection of modules, NFC for example, that make the price justifiable. Of course this isn't targeted at consumers but there could be a few travelers out there that could justify buying this and the keyboard case for extremely lightweight off-the-grid work.

 

The great screen, strong battery, good accessory range, Windows Pro, 4GB RAM and good communication options are valued greatly in the vertical markets where this tablet is targeted.

 

HP should throw in a USB-C -> USB 3.0 adapter / OTG cable with the Pro 608 G1 and considering the digitizer layer is already available on the tablet and that Windows 10 has extended pen support it would make sense to add that to the package. While business customers will be putting in bulk orders and receiving discount the package needs improving for professionals that are going to be investing in a single purchase.

There aren't many alternatives in the 8-inch Windows tablet market, especially as the Lenovo Thinkpad 8 is getting harder to find in the market. The rumored Dell Venue 8 pro 5000 and recently announced HP Envy 8 Note might be worth considering but depending on accessories, probably won't hit the same target as the HP Pro Tablet 608 G1.

 

Our overall score of 78% is averaged across a number of categories but if pure processing power is not your aim with the HP Pro Tablet 608 G1 then it's possible that a score based on your own requirements would be much higher. Watch out for heat though.
