Καλο φαινεται το νεο xbox360 αλλα σαν τωρινος κατοχος του xbox ειμαι απογοητευμενος οσο αναφορα την συμβατοτητα του παλιου απο τον νεο, ειδικα οταν καθε παιχνιδι που εχω το εχω αγορασει με 45-60ευρω.

Εξαλλου και η microsoft εκανε την παπια και πεταξε κατι αερολογιες για πιθανο εξομοιωτη ,επικαλλουμενη το προβλημα με την αλλαγη nvidia->Ati.

 

Αντε εγω τωρα να παω να δωσω 60ευρω για το ΜΟΝΖΑ, με τι κινητρο.

Αντιθετα παραδεχομαι την sony psp->psp2 ισως και ->psp3

αλλα και την nintendo.

A video displaying Nintendo's new console, codenamed Revolution, has surfaced and it looks strange enough to be the real thing. The video is incomplete but does manage to show off the actual console and a variety of functions not yet revealed by Nintendo. Images taken from the video are available by following the Screens tab above.

 

The video surfaced just after Nintendo's first details press release and has raised a few eyebrows as it promises virtual gaming on a scale not yet seen. One major doubt about the authenticity of the video has to do with the console it displays which seems to be the size of a small human head while Nintendo's press release mentions a unit that is as thick as 3 DVD cases. Another point is that Nintendo claims its console will be able to play either horizontally or vertically but the unit shown on the video can only stand on its flat base since the rest of the unit is spherical.

 

The video itself seems very well made and certainly the work of professional film-makers. It starts by mentioning Nintendo's history in gaming and then begins revealing Revolution. The Logo Nintendo ON is prominently displayed and the first shock comes from a headset unit which looks like virtual reality headgear.

According to the video the headset will serve as the brain of the unit providing the images of the game for the gamer and surround sound but will also utilize an environment capture feature which will use information about the user's position and movement in-game. The device will also contain an embedded microphone for use in-game.

The images of the game will be provided via a pair of adjustable visors on the headset. The headset will rest on top of the console when not in use.

 

The animated demonstration of how all the hardware will work in tandem is very exciting and really gets us all worked up about the potential of Revolution.

 

The video also showcases another Revolution feature which will also be a major part of Microsoft's campaign for XBox 360; customization.

It seems that Nintendo will also offer gamers faceplates for the console and some of them seem... interesting.

 

The timing of the video seems right since it was discovered soon after Microsoft released the full specification lists for its XBox 360 hardware but its authenticity will definitely remain in doubt until Nintendo reveals more details next week at E3 2005.

Νομίζω πως έχει αποδειχθεί πως αυτό το video είναι ένα πολύ πολύ καλό fake.

 

Μάλλον για κάποιο βίντεο διαφημιστικής εταιρίας βασισμένο σε concept sketches ή κάτι παρόμοιο το κόβω.

Sony set to spoil the Xbox 360 launch party? It's a possibility, according to Sony executive...

 

Sony's PS3 may launch before the end of 2005, putting it head-to-head with Microsoft's newly unveiled Xbox 360 in the race for gamers' hearts and minds.

 

Now normally we'd usually dismiss that statement as the worst kind of kite flying but the word apparently comes direct from Sony's chief financial officer Takao Yuhara, who has indicated that rushing the next-gen console out the door could be a feasible way to boost year-end sales.

 

Well true, but that still doesn't mean it's going to happen. However US reports state that Yuhara-san told Japanese news agency Jiji that putting the PS3 on shelves alongside the PSP would be a smart move for Sony. "Building up both the PlayStation Portable in America and Europe as well as the next generation PlayStation is one option that we have for the year end sales season," he said.

ndustry analysis and insider speculation has scheduled the PS3 for a 2006 release, putting it up to six months behind the Xbox 360. However, these comments shed doubt on that date, especially when you factor in our exclusive report that a near-complete version of PS3 will be on show at next week's E3.

Σχετικα με το PS3 θα χρησιμοποιησουν τελικα μονο ενα cell cpu, οποτε καλυτερα ξεχαστε τα ονειρα περι grid συστηματα και οτι θα χρησιμοποιειται ταυτοχρονα ως multi-purpose processor και σαν GPU (εξου και η συμφωνια με την nvidia). Πιστευω οτι αυτη τη φορα το Ps3 θα ειναι ελαφρως ισχυροτερο απο τα 3, ενω η Nintendo φαινεται να ασχολειται περισσοτερο με τις καινοτομιες και to gameplay παρα τοσο με το να παρουσιασει το υπερμηχανημα επιδοσεων. Οσο για το Xbox 1,5 συμφωνω με τον Flamenerve, αυτα ειναι μ@λακιουλες απο διαφορους fanboys και δεν πρεπει να περνονται στα σοβαρα. Οσο και αν δεν γουσταρω την M$ πρεπει να παραδεχτω οτι παρουσιασε ενα πολυ στιβαρο και αξιολογο μηχανημα. Νομιζω η μαχη για την επομενη γενια δεν θα ειναι τοσο ευκολη για την Sony, αν και πιθανοτατα θα αγορασω PS3 αν αυτο προσφερει τα περισσοτερα features, ειναι modable κτλ.

Much to the surprise of journalists, Sony came out with a bang at their pre-E3 conference on Monday. What started off as a dull series of generic demos and videos quickly turned into a jaw-dropping demonstration of the PlayStation 3's capabilities--completely overshadowing Microsoft's subsequent Xbox 360 press event.

Sony pulled out all stops, revealing the look of the console, specs, and launch date. Slated for release in Spring 2006, the PlayStation 3 features a PowerPC-base core running at 3.2 GHz, 256MB of XDR RAM at 3.2 GHz, 256MB GDDR3 VRAM at 700 MHz, Bluetooth wireless controllers, built in WiFi (802.11b/g), and RSX, a state-of-the-art next-gen GPU by Nvidia with a clock speed of 550 MHz. Similar to the Xbox 360, the GPU is able to freely access the 512MB of RAM, lacking the constraints seen in conventional PCs. And continuing its tradition, the console is backwards compatible--as is the Xbox 360.

 

While techno-geeks can ponder forever the potential ramifications of the specs, Sony spoke most clearly through its impressive demos (both tech and also of actual games), showing the potent console at work. Make no mistake: the PlayStation 3 is utterly superior in graphics to the Xbox 360 from what has been shown.

 

What really set the PS3 apart from the 360 was its lighting and shadow effects. The first tech demo showed light absorption and subsurface refraction, highlighting how different surfaces react differently to lighting. For example, skin reflected a warmer glow due to the light being partially absorbed, while the eyes give off a realistically glassy reflection. The lighting model was advanced enough to even show high-intensity light glowing through the body (much as you'd see when you cover a strong light source with your fingers). Game demos such as Fight Night Round 3 implemented other graphics-hog effects such as soft shadows (where shadow edges look blurry at a distance). And like the 360, the PS3 also had bloom effects, light flooding and bump mapping.

 

While each effect in of itself is subtle, when all combined the added ambiance is noticeably improved from what's seen in top-end PC graphics. The PS3 also seemed to have significantly more complex polygonal models than the Xbox 360. While the 360's rather disappointing Ghost Recon 3 looked like a minor facelift from Ghost Recon 2, Killzone on the PlayStation 3 was an eyeopener--undoubtedly the most beautiful looking FPS game to date (Quake 3 and Half-Life 2 pale in comparison). When comparing the graphics between the 360 and the PS3, the latter has graphics that are true to the phrase "next-generation" while the 360 seems more like a respectable upgrade (say, the jump from PS One to PS2) from the original Xbox.

 

The main concern with the PlayStation 3, however, is the controller design. Onlookers quickly adopted the description of "boomerang" as the controller featured exaggerated curves and arcs. Disconcertingly, the buttons and d-pads are slightly tilted, recalling the sour experiences with Microsoft's ergonomically disastrous Sidewinder. Analog thumbsticks look largely unchanged from the PlayStation 2, another point of concern. From a surface assessment, the Xbox 360 looks to have the better controller.

 

On the brighter side, the design of the PS3 console itself is minimalistic and sleek in an industrial, Bose sort of way. The console is convex as opposed to concave, interestingly enough--whether or not Sony deliberately made an opposite design decision to Microsoft is unknown. While Sony and Microsoft seem to want to elicit different emotions from their console designs (Sony's cold, brushed aluminum cool versus Microsoft's soft and fun), Sony yet again wins out with a more aesthetically alluring console.

Σίγουρα το PS3 έχει καλύτερο επεξεργαστή (όχι πάντως τα τρελά που μας τάιζε η sony μέχρι τώρα περί 4 cell κλπ κλπ κλπ), αλλά υστερεί πολύ σε σχέση με το 360 στον τομέα της κάρτας γραφικών.

Το σημαντικότερο σε μια κονσόλα είναι η κάρτα γραφικών.

Όποια έχει την καλύτερη κάρτα γραφικών θα παράγει και τα καλύτερα γραφικά.

Στην τελική όμως το gameplay είναι που μετράει, ποιός τα γ@..ει τα γραφικά.

The PS3 also seemed to have significantly more complex polygonal models than the Xbox 360.While the 360's rather disappointing Ghost Recon 3 looked like a minor facelift from Ghost Recon 2, Killzone on the PlayStation 3 was an eyeopener--undoubtedly the most beautiful looking FPS game to date (Quake 3 and Half-Life 2 pale in comparison). When comparing the graphics between the 360 and the PS3, the latter has graphics that are true to the phrase "next-generation" while the 360 seems more like a respectable upgrade (say, the jump from PS One to PS2) from the original Xbox..

Το Playstation 3 είναι απλά πανέμορφο! :w00t: Τα χειριστήριά του πάλι είναι για κλάματα... :mad: Οι screenshots που πόσταρε ο killing_you2 είναι φανταστικές, αλλά αμφιβάλω αν οι περισσότερες είναι αληθινές. Πάντως από πραγματικές screenshots του Gran Turismo 5 που είδα δεν μπορώ να πω ότι ενθουσιάστηκα. Ίσως επειδή είναι ακόμα σε alpha φάση... :worry:

 

 

Note #1: Την περίοδο που θα κυκλοφορήσουν τα πρώτα PS3 θα κυκλοφορήσει και το Halo 3, που σύμφωνα με τον Gates θα είναι απλά απίστευτο! (τι άλλο θα μπορούσε να πει... :p)

 

Note #2: Πάντως πολλά ακούγονται για το Revolution (κυκλοφορεί 2006) και μου τρέχουν τα σάλια... Κυκλοφόρησαν και κάποιες φωτογραφίες του, κατά 70% αληθινές.

 

Note #3: Κυκλοφορούν έντονες φήμες για νέο handheld από τη Nintendo, με τεράστια οθόνη και ισχύ/γραφικά επιπέδου Gamecube! Θα δείξει...

Παιδια τα ειπαμε το Ps3 θα ειναι ισχυροτερο απ'ολα. Θα κυκλοφορησει το 2006 οποτε λογικο ειναι να ειναι πιο δυνατο απο το Χβοχ360 που κυκλοφορει το Νοεμβριο. Κατασταση παρομοια δηλ. με Χβοχ και Ps2. Εντυπωση ομως κανει η Nintendo, αφου δηλωνει ξεκαθαρα οτι δεν την ενδιαφερουν τα νουμερα και οτι το Revolution θα ειναι απλα 2-3 φορες ισχυροτερο απο το Gamecube. btw. απο ενα πινακακι που ειδα το Ps3 φαινεται να ειναι μεγαλυτερο (!) σε ογκο απο το Χβοχ 360, μπορει κανεις να το επιβεβαιωσει?
