Πρόβλημα με δίσκο Western Digital

Λοιπόν, έχω ένα πρόβλημα με έναν JB 80GB. Ψάχνοντας στο internet δεν βρήκα κάτι συγκεκριμένο... Πάντως γενικά πολύς κόσμος έχει αυτό το πρόβλημα. Αντιπροσωπευτικό post:

 

"I have a western digital 80JB and I have a problem when I install this drive as master or stand-alone. The drive is recognised fine from bios and it is completly readable. But windowsXP cannot boot if this drive is present at some ide channel (as master). They stop at the welcome screen and the ide led of the board is constantly on.

The installation of XP stops after the 'Inspecting your system....' with the ide led on.

All these problems go away if this drive is installed as slave.

I am 100% sure that the jumpers are ok and I have tested it to many pcs - everywhere the same behaviour.

Is this a known problem? "

Περίεργο πρόβλημα όντως. Γενικά βέβαια οι western digital θέλουν προσοχή στο πως ρυθμίζεις το jumper. Αν είναι μόνος του π.χ. πρέπει οπωσδήποτε να είναι στο single. Αλλά και πάλι, αν στο BIOS φαίνεται σωστά κανονικά δεν θα έπρεπε να υπάρχει κανένα άλλο πρόβλημα. Πριν από 3 βδομάδες έκανα setup σε ένα τέτοιο δίσκο και όλα πήγαν μια χαρά. Ούτε έχω συναντήσει κανένα πρόβλημα από τότε. Η μόνη υπόθεση που μπορώ να κάνω είναι ότι υπάρχει κάποια ασυμβατότητα με συγκεκριμένα chipsets. Δοκίμασε να βάλεις τον δίσκο μαζί με μια άλλη συσκευή και δες τι γίνεται. Πάντως αν όταν τον έχεις slave δουλεύει κανονικά, άστον εκεί. Δεν έχει διαφορά.
