ΥΓ. Όπως και στο παλιό forum προτείνω να δημιουργηθούν επισμασμένα θέματα για θέματα ασφαλείας, viruses, critical updates κλπ. Για να είναι όλα συγκεντρωμένα κάπου και να είναι πιο εύκολη η αναζήτηση.

Η Microsoft προειδοποιεί για σοβαρό κενό ασφάλειας στα Windows

 

Ουάσινγκτον: H Microsoft διαθέτει από την Τετάρτη πακέτο αναβάθμισης λογισμικού για τη διόρθωση μιας σοβαρής ατέλειας που επιτρέπει σε χάκερ να επιτεθούν σε υπολογιστές με οποιαδήποτε έκδοση των Windows εκτός από τα Windows ME.

 

Το κενό ασφάλειας θα επέτρεπε στους χάκερ να αποκτήσουν σχεδόν πλήρη έλεγχο του συστήματος μέσω του Διαδικτύου. Θα μπορούσαν να διαβάσουν και να διαγράψουν αρχεία από τον σκληρό δίσκο και να κατασκοπεύουν μηνύματα ηλεκτρονικού ταχυδρομείου.

 

H εταιρεία Internet Security Systems, που επιτηρεί τη διαδικτυακή δραστηριότητα για να εντοπίσει τυχόν θέματα ασφάλειας για λογαριασμό άλλων εταιρειών, προειδοποίησε ότι το κενό ασφάλειας «αποτελεί τεράστια απειλή» και τέθηκε σε κατάσταση υψηλής επαγρύπνισης.

 

Η Microsoft καλεί τους χρήστες να ενημερώσουν άμεσα τα συστήματά τους μέσω της υπηρεσίας αναβάθμισης του λειτουργικού συστήματος Windows Update. Διευκρινίζει, πάντως, ότι οι χρήστες που χρησιμοποιούν firewall όταν συνδέονται στο Διαδίκτυο θεωρητικά δεν κινδυνεύουν.

 

H ατέλεια εντοπίστηκε στο στοιχείο των Windows που επιτρέπει σε άλλους υπολογιστές να αποκτούν πρόσβαση σε κοινόχρηστους φακέλους και εκτυπωτές και να ζητούν από το λειτουργικό σύστημα την εκτέλεση ενεργειών (Remote procedure Call).

 

Το κενό ασφάλειας ενυπάρχει και στη νέα έκδοση του λειτουργικού για διακομιστές Windows Server 2003. «Θα έδινε στον επιτιθέμενο τη δυνατότητα να προχωρήσει σε οποιαδήποτε ενέργεια στον διακομιστή» αναφέρει ανακοίνωση της Microsoft. «Για παράδειγμα, ο επιτιθέμενος θα μπορούσε να παραποιήσει ιστοσελίδες, να διαγράψει το σκληρό δίσκο, ή να προσθέσει νέους χρήστες στην ομάδα των διαχειριστών του συστήματος» προσθέτει.

 

Τα Windows Server 2003, που κυκλοφόρησαν τον Απρίλιο, είναι η πρώτη έκδοση του λειτουργικού που κυκλοφόρησε αφότου η Microsoft παρουσίασε το πρόγραμμα Trustworthy Computing initiative για τη βελτίωση της αξιοπιστίας και της ασφάλειας του λογισμικού.

Ελπίζω να ποστάρω στο σωστό thread.

Αναφέρω ένα trojan κι ένα spyware που είχα στο pc και δεν τα βρήκε το Ad-aware 6 (με τα τελευταία definitions).

 

Για το trojan μου μπήκαν υποψίες ότανμ ξαφνικά ένα αρχείο με το όνομα msrexe.exe (1η φορά το έβλεπα), ήθελε πρόσβαση στο internet. Ευτυχώς δεν το άφησα ποτέ να συνδεθεί. Ακόμα πάντως δεν ξέρω αν έχει φύγει εξ' ολοκλήρου. Περισσότερες πληροφορίες: http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/cws/

 

Το spyware ζητάει πρόσβαση στο internet με το αρχείο ieupdates.exe. Το είχα εδώ και 3 μήνες περίπου και νόμιζα ότι είναι πραγματικά updates του IE. Όσο καιρό ήμουν χωρίς firewall δούλευε κανονικά. Όταν είδα ότι ζήτουσε πρόσβαση στο internet, το έκοβα μέσω κάθε φορά μέσω του Tiny Personal Firewall με σκοπό να το ψάξω κάποια στιγμή. PS. Και τα 2 έτρεχαν σαν services στα XP.

Βασικά το θέμα τις ασφάλειας είναι σχετικό.Έχουμε ακούσει για μεγάλες εταιρείες που έχουν firewall αρκετών εκατομυρίων,που κάνουν συνεχώς update και όλο και τρύπες ανακαλύπτουν.Δεν θα έχω άγχος να κατεβάσω και τελευταίο update.Αμαν πιά!

Στο SP 2 (v.1213) των Windows XP δεν μου κρατάει τα password για τις dialup συνδέσεις μου.. :mad:

Υπάρχει κάτι που θα μπορούσα να κάνω;

Επίσης μου εμφανίζει κάτω δεξιά μήνυμα ότι τρέχω XP PRO, ποιό είναι το build και την έκδοση του SP. :wacko:

Με τα Tweak δεν γίνεται να το ξεφορτωθώ μια και είναι test version...

Υπάρχει τρόπος να χαθεί από την οθόνη μου;

Έχω και ωραίο Background... :p Κρίμα δεν είναι;;; :whistle:

Ασφαλώς! :p Ο ευκολότερος, γρηγορότερος και πιο ασφαλής τρόπος να λυθούν τα προβλήματα αυτά είναι να περιμένεις την τελική έκδοση του SP2! :rolleyes: (πάντως μάλλον θα αργήσει)

H Microsoft γιατί δεν με αφήνει να εγκαταστήσω απο το Update το Service pack 1 για ελληνικά XP ;Κάτι μηνύματα για πειρατείες και τέτοια πράγματα μου βγάζει :whistle:

Mε τα υπόλοιπα στοιχεία του Update δεν παρουσιάστηκε πρόβλημα ;)

Για μην εμφανίζεται το "Windows XP Service Pack 2 for testing purposes only κλπ κλπ" μετά την εγκατάσταση του Service Pack 2, δεν πιάνουν τα γνωστά προγράμματα (Tweak UI κλπ). Πρέπει να επεμβεις στο μητρώο. Πρόσεξε μην κάνεις κάποιο λάθος στις παρακάτω οδηγίες. Επίσης πριν τις εφαρμόσεις κράτα ένα back-up των κλειδιών που θα πειράξεις.

 

Πήγαινε στο μητρώο, στο

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\CA\Certificates\

 

βρες το κλειδί: FEE449EE0E3965A5246F000E87FDE2A065FD89D4

 

και σβήσε το τελείως.

 

Επίσης στο:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\ROOT\Certificates\

 

σβήσε το κλειδί:

 

2BD63D28D7BCD0E251195AEB519243C13142EBC3

 

Κάνε ένα restart των Windows και το "for testing purposes only" από το desktop θα έχει φύγει :)

Ειλικρινά θα ήθελα να με ενημερώσεις για τα περι Windows Update αν δεν σου κάνει κόπο.

Για το SP2 δεν θα προχωρήσω μια και το απεγκατέστησα πλέον.

Ισχύει το ίδιο και για το SP1;

Περιέργως μου εμφανίζεται και δεν βγαίνει με τα Tweak xxx.

Windows XP sp2 in December ??

This is great news!

 

A Microsoft executive said the company will launch Service Pack 2 for Windows XP in December, months earlier than the company forecast on its Service Pack roadmap.

 

At the Citrix iForum in Florida on Tuesday, Microsoft's corporate vice president of content, Richard Kaplan, who is in charge of the Microsoft.com and Windows Update Web sites, told delegates that Windows XP SP2 would be available by the end of the year. The service pack was originally planned for this year, but had been put back to 2004.

 

Kaplan admitted that Microsoft's record on security has "not been good enough", but he claims the company is improving. Security is now the number one priority for Microsoft and that will be demonstrated with SP2, he said, revealing that the update will contain enhanced memory protection in an attempt to reduce the operating system's vulnerability to buffer overflow exploits. "One of the primary way worms get onto the system is by what they call a buffer overflow. There is a new technology that lets us lock out people's ability to install code in Windows using a buffer overflow," he said.

 

Additionally, SP2 will switch on Windows XP's built-in firewall by default and provide better control over ActiveX scripts: "Automatic downloading of ActiveX controls that you don't know about and don't care about--we are going to make this much, much easier to control."

 

Kaplan also said that Microsoft will, except in extreme cases, only release patches once a month: "You should install patches on your schedule rather than our schedule," he said.

Windows XP SP2 to be 'Springboard' to Longhorn

 

If you're wondering why Microsoft is taking so long to release Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), wonder no more: The company is working to back-port various Longhorn security technologies into SP2, providing a mid-ground between the default security found in XP and that which will be available in its next major desktop OS. Code-named "Springboard," the new security features include an updated version of the Internet Connection Firewall (ICF), which adds outbound scanning capabilities and other features previously found only in Microsoft's enterprise server product, Internet Security & Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000.

 

Microsoft's SP2 schedule came under fire late this past summer when the company quietly revealed that the release would not ship until the first half of 2004; previously, the company had told me that it would be released by late 2003. The previous service pack was initially released less than a year after XP itself, a schedule that most customers were comfortable with. But delaying SP2 until the first half of 2004 would create an 18 month gap between the service packs, an interminable amount of time given the vast number of security patches and other bug fixes Microsoft has released in the interim. Many of Microsoft's customers continue to avoid installing hot-fixes and other updates, and instead wait for service packs, which collect these updates into a single, installable unit.

 

The inclusion of the Springboard security technologies, however, requires a lot more testing time. Sources close to the software giant tell me that beta testers should soon get their hands on an XP SP2 beta version that includes the new security technologies; previous betas did not include any of this code. In addition to the new firewall, which will be left on by default, other Springboard security technologies include a new version of Windows Update, and new memory management code for defeating common buffer overrun attacks. The Springboard technologies will also be made available to Windows Server 2003 customers via the first service pack for that OS, Microsoft says.

Ξέρει κανείς που αποθηκεύονται τα update των windows(όταν τρέξω το windows update κατεβάζει κάποια αρχεία και μετά τα κάνει Install, για αυτά τα αρχεία λέω) ώστε να τα κρατήσω και να μην χρειάζεται να τα ξαωακατεβάζω όποτε κάνω format?

This hotfix fixes a problem that occurs when you open and save a Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003, a Microsoft Office Word 2003, or a Microsoft Office Excel 2003 document that includes OfficeArt shapes in an earlier version of Microsoft Office.

 

If the OfficeArt shapes are changed in this way, empty "complex" properties may be saved in the document. These empty "complex" properties may undergo a bit change in some earlier versions of Office. When you open the document in an Office 2003 program, any of the following symptoms may occur:

 

The document may not open completely.

The document may be corrupted.

The document may open but with missing content.

You might receive an error message.

Note: This hotfix only applies to Excel 2003, Word 2003 & PowerPoint 2003. It is always recommended you use the Office Update site in order to make sure you actually require the update. If, however, you are certain you need the update there is a direct download link below.
